I personally think its because people are just making funny, jocked quotes from tumblr. Rarely anything is original. quotes used to get 1000s of favorites because they were inspirational and more personal. And idk if this has to do with anything, but on most quotes, people don't comment anymore (unless its an opinionated quote). people just keep scrolling like its facebook... i mean, that is the difference between witty and fb (well one of many) that witty is inspirational and facebook is just a bunch of status/quotes in your feed that you hear everywhere. but i really dont know...this is just my opinion.

Invite your friends to Witty. Print these cards out ( http://www.wittyprofiles.com/join-us.pdf ), cut them up and slip them into your friends' lockers, purses, or pockets. Or just cut them up and leave them around school or the mall.

Quotes are getting old and being reused all to much. They shouldn't be being reused if we actually made quotes from our hearts and I can't tell you the amount of "hidden" quotes i see on top quotes, all of which i blocked stupid "fandoms". Also, it's getting old seeing the EXACT same people everyday on top. There isn't much variety. I know exactly who's quote it is just by the formats... that's a little sad in my opinion. It's great they got "witty famous" by there really great quotes, but it does get old. I just always automatically know if the quote will be funny/lovey dovey or whatever..

Oh and on the guy note... Girls here really need to start being more mature and NOT make fake accounts, so when we till our legit guy friends irl about witty they aren't ganged up on and forced to leave.

I like your quote and what it's asking but just like everything else in life, Witty is probably on the receiving end of lull cycle. It WILL be back in full swing when people have more time. I'm probably off a bit but it is January, the time when American kids and young adults are busy with school and part-timers (among other ridiculously time-consuming things). Witty is mobile now so if we keep promoting witty, there's no reason that we wont be able to bolster up more visitors and authors. Keep faith in Witty because Steve hasn't let us down. We should just anticipate that people adopt, drop, and adopt things over and over again. If you are a true fan, listen to the people here and think about what you'd be willing to do to contribute to the re-rebirth of our wonderful Witty.

Personally I'm gonna make 500x350 posters of my favorite quotes and link them to the respective pages on other media websites to have something permanently circulating on teh interwebs. (my sincerest apologies if i sound pretentious or abrasive)...

The number one best way to fix it would be stop hiding Witty. I know people want it to be a secret, double-life type thing, but this is the Internet. Everything is public. If you want a secret place to write your thoughts, buy a journal. Posting SECRET and PERSONAL things on the Internet immediately destroys the secrecy of it. Also, people need to put actual effort into their quotes. I remember people complaining about "Top Quoters" and "Witty Famous" people but the thing is they got there because, for the most part, they worked for it. Now most of them are gone, just like people had wanted, and Witty is suffering because now the only way to get a top quote is to steal it from tumblr. The point of Witty isn't supposed to be getting a top quote in the first place but that's what everyone is fixated on. And, from what I've seen, the number one way to improve this website: obey the age limit. I can't on one hand the number of people under the age of 13 I've encountered on Witty who were really mature enough to be here. The age limit exists for a reason.
Don't keep Witty a secret, put effort into quotes and don't steal them from other places, and follow the rules. That should help a lot.

Also I apologize if there are any spelling mistakes and/or autocorrect errors - using my iPod to write this.

like porkypine said part of it might be that people aren't putting a lot of effort into their quotes. I think the card thing is a great idea since people have been leaving the website .

This is true. People should start telling other people, that they trust or think would like witty and not change it,about witty so you can get more people on. And it's mainly due to tumblr, I'm not trying to dis tumblr, but tumblr is like witty with pictures!!!! I like tumbler but only cause its so much like witty.

This is so true. As a long time Wittian, I've seen top quotes with 200, then with a 1,000! And I was like, Great, Witty is growing!! But now it's dying.
I think the answer is to write ORIGINAL quotes and not steal from Tumblr and Twitter. Put your HEART into it. Even if you don't get 1,000 faves, at least they have sustenance.

I know. It's getting a bit boring. It's not colorful. I know steve made it like that on purpose, so our quotes stood out more, but eh. No one is putting enough time into their quotes to make them pretty and new. No one comes up with their own things anymore. I haven't faved a quote in awhile. I don't like writing quotes, because a lot of them come from the heart, and no one reallly reads those ones anymore. Witty was kind of taken over by some snobby litttle girls, who have no idea what they're doing. And lastly, the layout. When I first came in like, May, the top quotes had 800+ faves. now they get less than half.

since the witty layout changed everything started getting weird i mean
the top quotes had only about 100 - 500 faves
when they used to be like 700+

and honestly when i go to the new quote page it seems like there's only 2 or 3 new quotes every 5 minutes :l

and there was so much more variety of quotes. there were way more people and you could refresher the page and there would be hundreds more quotes to read, hundreds more people to meet and talk to and to inspire you. just doesn't really seem the same any more.

I agree, i used to be so into this, but I guess it got a tad boring because it became so dramatic at one stage & some people became really mean & I lost interest because it turned into less of an escape & more pointless drama. Even though there is less of it now, I can't get into it anymore & never make quotes.

I agree with you so much. I hate it when i keep refreshing the page for five minutes and there's still no new quotes.
And, the ironic thing is that this quote is in top quotes and only has 234 faves.

I've gotten 3 people to join Witty, but a lot of people don't like to invite people from real life cause it's personal stuff. But, I dunno. I just love Witty so much and it stinks to see it sinking like this.

I know right?! I feel like when witty chsnged formats for the first time, people didnt like it and left and the liv, marissa, and acouple other witty famous people left and they basically led the way. You know?
