Actually, what I was thinking, was so that the contest quotes don't get confused with normal quotes, remove them from being in any other section except the contest section. This way people will only see the contest quotes when they want to

That kinda defeats the purpose though since the contests are meant to improve the quality of quotes and increase the number of faves on Witty.

I agree, but SecretlyBrokenAndSilentlyHoping says " I could dislike a format but like the quote and fave it, and it could end up being placed in the best format contest and I wouldn't have even known.." which is very true. People could win contests without exactly winning. That should be considered too.

You can find the active contests with the "contests!" link at the top of the page. And don't forget you can create your own contests just by tagging your quote with a tag that begins with the word "contest".

I think you need to make sure that people are aware that they're voting so separate is somehow. Like, I could dislike a format but like the quote and fave it, and it could end up being placed in the best format contest and I wouldn't have even known..

But I agree with Rajsonkar. Maybe, Steve, you could make the contests on a whole seperate tab type thing? Make it a bit more exclusive? So people with a kazillion followers don't just get a bunch of favorites on their stuff, people possibly not even realizing that the quote is meant for a contest in the first place. I know I don't pay attention at all to the tags. The idea itself though sounds okay. But otherwise I think it sounds like a fun idea. :)

good idea. Maybe I'll make the contest tag stand out or make a link to the contest on the side of the quote. Ex: it might say "this quote is part of the whatever contest"

i think its a good idea, but how long will the contest go on for? and will you rate them according to the number of faves at the end?
and I also think a lot of people will only fave the well-known users' quotes, and not give newest members a chance... maybe , i don't know haha
