When you're feeling all alone, turn to God.
He'll be there beside you.
When you're having a hard day, turn to God.
He'll help you through it.
When you're struggling and don't know what to do, turn to God.
He'll steer you in the right direction.
When you're feeling like nobody cares and just want a friend to talk to, turn to God.
He'll listen. And He WON'T judge you.
When you're feeling lost in a world 100 times bigger than you, turn to God.

He'll save you
.

I don't see any negatives here.
Give God a try.
I guarantee you won't regret it.
No hate please.
Please.

Deities do a really good job at sitting back and watching people die in mass murders and taking credit for things that doctors and firemen and police officers and soldiers do sometimes like saving lives in dire situations.

I'm sorry but gods who let bad things happen to good people and claim to be all-loving are not the kinds of gods I want to believe in or trust or have faith in.

God doesn't cause "bad" things to happen. He loves us and grieves with us in our pain when bad things happen. It even says in Ezekiel 18:32, "'For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies.' declares the Lord." Satan - not God – is the evil one, and is behind every evil deed. Satan is all about death; but God is all about life. I suppose the question you'll ask now is "If God isn't causing pain, why doesn't He step in and stop it?" Well, in the bible, God warned us that there would be pain and suffering. He doesn't say "Follow me and you'll live an easy life!" No- he actually WARNS us what will happen, even if we follow Him. But He offered us a beautiful gift of life and salvation. In this life, we are separated from Him, so there will be suffering. But if we use this precious gift of life from Him, He will deliver us into an eternity of peace. He has given us a choice, but most of us choose to reject Him.

So you're telling me Satan, a mere fallen angel, is as powerful as a god? Moreover, he's alleged to be omnipotent. One might imagine that with such power and such a supposed grand heart of love and compassion that he would not let his children die of starvation or let a crazy dictator eliminate six million of them. And if the life he gave us now is so precious and special, what's the point of having another precious and special eternal life afterward? If he's so omniscient and already knows who will be bad and who will be good upon his creation thereof, why doesn't he just send them straight to hell or straight to heaven? Freewill isn't real based on the description of the Christian deity, unless you renounce his proposed all-intelligence. I can quote Bible verses too: "I will sweep away everything in all your land," says the LORD. "I will sweep away both people and animals alike. Even the birds of the air and the fish in the sea will die." Book of Zephaniah. Your god is disgustingly terrifying and wrathful by judgment day. Epicurus says it best. "Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"

God can prevent evil, he gave us a brain for free will, thats how we determine who's going to heaven. Satan is a falling angel because he didn't want to follow god, so he decided do bad is better, thats why The Lord said he would sweep the lands. Satan corrupted them in the first place.

If he can prevent evil, then whence cometh evil? Free will and omniscience actually contradict each other.

I wish God existed. Not saying he doesn't. Not saaying he does. Because really, I don't know. Which would be why I don't follow any religon. I do hope though. I really do hope there is a place like heaven when I die. But until then, I'm just going to live my life. I like how you wrote this, by the way. Youre not shoving what you think down someones throat. You just stating what you believe. :)

This is really good and inspiring. Sure there are people who aren't going to believe it, but personally? I feel like the only person I have to turn to is God. He's always there for me, and when I'm having such a low and horrible day, I can just pray or think out loud, and I feel as though he's right there listening to my problems. And somehow, even when things take a turn for the worse, everything works out perfectly in the end. God allows things to happen in the way he wants them to, and when I realize this, I feel so much better. God has a plan for me, and for everyone. And I see people disagree and think there's no way some heavenly being could possibly exist, but for me, God is the one thing that has kept me living. Honest. And I know to some people I probably sound crazy, but I honestly wouldn't be hear without God in my life. <3 Beautiful post, thank you for this. I needed it.

Are you joking? Someone posts a wonderful quote about the emotional benefits of believing in God or a superior state of mind and you ask if he's real? WHO CARES? It helps a lot of people through painful times. Religion isn't about being scientifically accurate. At least not anymore. It is now about a sense of community and well-being (despite all the wars and violence caused by fanatics).

You can feel Him if you simply turn to Him. Let Him into your life and ask Him to help you. He makes all kinds of positive changes; you need only ask for His help.

"He makes all kinds of positive changes". It's an indirect answer, but it's still an answer. Besides, if I were to answer your question directly, I wouldn't even know where to begin. He makes so many great changes every single day. Just start looking.

you haven't proved to me theres a god. I've been going to church my whole life and I still haven't seen or heard of any great change that can only be a gods doing.

jane :-)* · 1 decade ago
I can't prove to you that there's a God. Really, all I can do is try and encourage you to believe. And has your church ever done something? Something like a go on a missions trip, or do community work, or rebuild homes. Because sometimes there are the 'wrong' kind of churches, the kind that hold back instead of lifting up. And let me tell you, that is not the gospel. In the bible, Jesus teaches us to go out and teach all nations the word of God. That is where you can see the miracles happen - when there is a noticable and beautiful change in someone's life caused by the Lord. My advice to you is to pray. Just call on God and ask Him to help you trust Him more. Also, talk to your pastor. Sometimes they can give you the greatest advice. And lastly, remember that you're still young. You still have your entire life to have a journey of faith, and it will happen in God's perfect timing.

my church does all those things. But its US doing it. It's not a god. Is it so hard to believe that another human being can be the great change in a persons life? Why would I give the credit to a god?
thumbs up 0 thumbs down reply

hazzahamster · 1 decade ago
Its not A God its THE God - according to the Bible there's only one God and that's what I believe - but if you don't believe it then that's your personal opinion. No one's saying that another human being CAN'T be a great change in a person's life, we're just saying that the power of God allows those who believe in him too and Jane8D is right - most of us on here are still all young and we haven't yet had the proper chance to experience the powe of God yet
thumbs up 0 thumbs down reply

InsertAliasHere · 1 decade ago
omg, you say you're too young to properly experience a god then how do you know they are real!??!?! Im begging you, somebody prove to me theres a god. My family believes it but I just dont see it. It makes no sense to me what so ever. Help me out here seriously. I'm not bashing on the idea of a god. I just dont understand how somebody can take the words in a book so seriously. Whats the difference in twilight and the bible? they're both totally unrealistic.
thumbs up 0 thumbs down reply

jane :-)* · 1 decade ago
Actually, I don't think you're ever too young or too old to truly experience God in your life. I was only stating that it can happen at any time, any age, or any point in your life. Gosh, you could even be on your death bed and experience it. And, look, I can't prove to you that there is a God. That's something you will have to figure out on your own. Lastly, the bible can be very unrealistic to some people. Probably most people, actually - but that's the thing. If you trust God, you will begin to see His omnipotence. Then you can begin to understand how things like Jesus' miracles in the bible really did happen.

I never really know whatnot think about God. I have a crazy rationale that if I typed it here I'd die before I finished... Most of the time I don't really think about it but when I do... I've been going to church since I was really tiny but I just struggle so much with the idea of God vs no God. I don't really know. Ignore me lol

I think everyone thinks about this once in their lifetime. But it's about having faith in what isn't seen. I always remember from the Polar Express "the most real things in this world are the things we can't see" and I totally believe it to be true. And I agree with jane8D: prayer is very important in situations like this.

I'd say to, when you start struggling with the idea of God, to just pray. It doesn't even have to be a deep, long prayer. Just something like 'God, please help me trust you more'. If you start letting God into your life more, you'll feel Him there with you, especially in harder times. /end random comment /umsorryijusthadtosaysomething

It's all good. Sometimes I do. When I got confirmed, my pastor said something I really liked. It was something like everything is a prayer, even if it doesn't start with a dear god and an amen. Because he hears you. When a guy gets his first kiss, or when a dear family member dies, each of those is a prayer. It was really beautiful. But I suppose labeling it would make it more obvious. Thanks :)
