I believe that the government wouldn't do something like that. First of all the government doesn't have control over us we have control over the government IT'S CALLED A DEMOCRACY . And second of all the government can't control the actions of the criminally. The president has 2 children of his own he would never let something like that happen if it were in his power. Also these events cost more money for the government so why would they do that when ther eis already huge debts. And haveli ever heard of a lovely thing called coincidence?

...but guns have no other purpose than harming and/or killing someone or something. the other things you mentioned have normal purposes that can be completely harmless. and just like we regulate cars to make them safer and we have laws to try to keep intoxicated drivers from driving, shouldn't we also do our best to ensure that guns aren't getting into the wrong hands? ...especially if we can establish that there is much more of a risk involved with owning a gun than there is in owning a pencil, car, or spoon? obviously there's still the black market, but I don't think that excuses us from trying. not to mention that if we really crack down on gun trafficking, it can be minimized.

oh right haha whoops i forgot about that. edit: guns are designed to destroy. be it human life, animal life, or a clay disk. there's something inherently more dangerous about a gun than there is about a pencil, a car, or a spoon. something that should tell us to be more careful and strict about who is getting to own guns and how easily they are getting them.

yeah but they weren't built for that intent. pencils are primarily for writing, cars are primarily for driving, and spoons are primarily for eating. guns are primarily for destroying. they are machines tailor-made for destruction. i absolutely don't think they should be banned, but i do think they should be regulated more because of the nature of their purpose.

Amen! All of you saying banning guns will eliminate the problem, it won't. Drugs are illegal in the US for minors, but over 30% of teens still use them. Same with alcohol. It's illegal for people under the age of 21, but over 60% of underage teens still drink. You all know that before these laws were passed, and soon after they were, the percentage was much smaller? The underage drinking % in the mid to late 90's/early 2000's was just under 25%. Since when do criminals, or many people for that matter, follow the laws?

I live in Canada., and maybe its because Canada has gentrally a less crazed amount of people (I'm sorry, but its true in some ways.) but Canada has a few shootings too. In Canada, people die because someone murdered them, and they didnt have a gun... but Canada has much less shootings. Hmmm...

can you go into wal-mart and buy a fully-functioning war cannon? nope. but can you buy an assault rifle? yep. Sure, there are tons of other ways to kill people, but shooting are by far the most common. by that logic, we should just make murder legal, since there are thousands of other ways to die, anyway, what's the point? people die becaus eof it. that's the point. and it's the same with guns.

I never said murder was right, I just said you can never fully prevent it. Banning guns doesn't solve ANTHING, remind me again how criminals follow laws? If you ban guns you should ban all types of weapons or anything that could even be remotly able to kill someone.

And no, for example, you could kill someone with knives, drowning someone in a swimming poop, a baseball bat, heck, you could kill someone by suffocating them with a pillow. But none of those things were created for the purpose of killing, and they are definitely more commonly used for the things they WERE created for. But guns, however, were created for the purpose of taking lives. period, and that's what they're used for.

yes, killing animals. taking lives. you are missing the point here. what's the law here? "don't shoot people." Great. now, is a criminal without a gun still going to shoot people? no. what about the "sane'" people who obtain guns legally and shoot people unnecessarily? who shoot teenagers dead for breaking into their house? who shoot people for even coming onto their property without doing anything suspicious? what about THOSE people who are dying?

You're missing my point. The criminals aren't going to give up their illegally obtained guns. Hate to break it to you, but if someone breaks into your house you have the right to kill them, if someone trespasses on your property you have the right to kill them, it doesn't matter it they're suspicious or not, they can harm you, your property or your family, it's perfectly legal. The killing animals is another argument for another time.

No, I'm saying if someone comes INTO your house or on private property (ie. in the woods) you have the right to shoot them. Lemme tell you a story, when I was 9 a man broke into my house, did he seem dangerous? No. He came upstairs and my dad killed him. Wehn the police came they found 4 knives and a hand gun on the man. He would have killed us.

okay, okay. I see where you're coming from. But I would much rather shoot the guy in the legs, he would be disabled and not able to do anything. Killing should be a last resort, only. There were was a case of like, 2 15 year olds who broke into someone's house and the man who lived there shot them both in the head with no hesitation. Sometimes people just aren't responsible enough to handle them. Guns shouldn't be banned, for hunting etc., but they should definitely be much more strict about who is allowed to have a gun.
