This is perfect.
Too perfect.
It goes with an analogy I came up with myself the other day about letting go, one that says that the agonizing over the pain before the procedure would be done is a lot worse than just getting it over with. This quote acts as the second half to my end of the analogy - describing the recovery, the aftermath... the part that can often take quite a lot of strength.
Luckily with teeth, you can't just "go back" the way you can with relationships and many other things.
I've actually had teeth pulled before (for cosmetic reasons though, not because they were causing me pain. I had braces and I had four teeth pulled to create gaps that were closed using the braces. Hard to explain, but it looks really great now), and I remember freaking out up until the day it was done, and as the dentist's assistants were trying to get me into the chair I was literally shaking and could barely even move. It took one of them holding up a Q-tip with cherry-flavored numbing cream on it, telling me, "Look, it's like candy!" to finally calm me down. I had been reduced to the mentality of a three-year-old out of extreme intimidation. But you know what? After I had it done, I felt like I was on top of the world. I went out for ice cream and I ate it in the backseat of a car on a sunny day. It was wonderful, and so, so worth it. And yeah, I had to deal with gaps for months (not too pretty, lol), which felt pretty weird... but time, very literally, heals all wounds, and helps to close up these holes in our lives.
In short - don't be afraid of the pain nor the recovery - just get it over with and move on.
I know it's easier said than done, but always remember that it's always worth getting out of a bad situation... don't hold on to what only hurts you.
