LOL it's the Greek God, Cronus. Who was a Titan, the head of all Titans. When his wife, Gaia, gave birth, he swallowed each baby to keep safe his thrown. Until Gaia one day decided to hide one of her babies (Zeus) and give Cronus a rock to swallow. Zeus ended up overthrowing Cronus.

No that is one of the 3 theories. And that is what most everyone THINKS it is about but no one is 100% sure. So no, no one knows what it is actually for.

Kindlifresser may be depicting Greek Titan Kronos, as he devoured his children as soon as they were born, besides Zeus, who used an emetic to force Kronos to disgorge the contents of his stomach in reverse order (his two brothers and three sisters). Peter Paul Rubens' painting of Kronos devouring Poseidon is quite terrifying, as well as Francisco Goya's Romanised inspiration. Also, this is long and I am boring, bye.

Someone had to wake up in the morning and say "hey today I'll just sculpt a giant statue of a man eating a sack of babies."

Actually that is one of the theories for it. No one is exactly sure what it means :]

mollifers123 · 1 decade ago
true, but that is the most likely reason. Considering that it's 500 hundred years old and people still believed in greek mythology (and some people do still do today ^v^) Either way it goes it's still weird to have a statue of it. :)

kronos wasn't human so i think it could be a possibility. I saw the picture of the statue and it might be a possibility
