Part 11
Paxton's POV
"So you're with ... Kristine? Right?" I asked him, curious. I think I liked him. I don't know. "Nahh, we broke up 2 weeks ago." He looked at me funny. I laughed. "Sheesh, where have you been?" He asked jokingly. I laughed even harder. "I didn't know you guys broke up!" And laughed more, so much it hurt. Mark started laughing as well. His laugh was cute. :)
* * * * *
When we arrived at the house, a blue car was in the driveway. Not the same one I saw yesterday. I opened the door. Lane and her father were sitting on the couch. "Hey." I said warmly. Her father stood up and shook my hand. "Hello." He said. He was in a light blue long sleeve shirt, dark blue jacket, and brown pants with a brown belt. Lane was sitting perfectly, looking around the room. Her hair was half up, half down and she was wearing glasses. She had a green shirt on and dark jeans with white sneakers. She had the "Lane" necklace on. "Paxton." She smiled. Her father led me into the kitchen, where he made me sign some papers.
Mark's POV
We walked into her house, where a man and a girl were sitting. I'm guessing she was Paxton's sister? She said she had a sister, right? She said hello, and the man said hello. The man brought Paxton into the kitchen, where I was left alone with this girl. "Um, hello." I said. I flipped my hair. She was kind of cute. "Hi." She replied, sounding timid. "Um, I'm Mark. You're Paxton's sister, right?" I asked. She nodded. "Cool. So, you're like ... what, 11? 12? 13?" She didn't look THAT young, but she also didn't look THAT old. "I'm 12, and my name's Lane." She paused. "You like Paxton, don't you?" Lane asked with a grin. I sat down beside her. "Hmm ... I don't know, really. She's ... nice. Funny. Smart. Cool. But she's my friend. You know how it is?" I told her. I looked at her. She smiled a tiny bit. "I know what you mean ... she has a boyfriend, though." She replied. She looked down, then back up at me. "Nahh, they broke up." I said. I leaned back. Her couch was soft. "Oh." Lane said quietly. Paxton came back in the room, with the man right behind her.
Paxton's POV
"And you're sure Paxton will be 100% safe here?" Her father asked. I nodded. "Oh yes! I read over her allergies, favorite foods, her conditions, dislikes, and the rest. She will be in GREAT hands here. I promise you that." I replied. "Good." He said. I finished signing the other papers and walked back into the living room. Her father and Lane said their goodbyes, hugged each other, and I even saw a tear escape from her father's eye. Awh. :( Her father finally left, and waved as he backed out of our driveway. I waited til he was gone and told Lane we were going to the movies. "Cool, which movie?" She asked. I shrugged my shoulders. We got in the car, and I dialed Mayce's number. "Hey, you get out of school yet?" I asked. It was 12:04. "Yeah, just told 'em I felt sick. They bought it. Haha!" She laughed. I pulled up into the parking lot of the theater. "I'm in the parking lot right now." I said into the phone. "Sweet, I'm like 2 miles away from it. Meet me on the benches." Mayce said. I unbuckled myself. "Ok." I hung up the phone. "Mark, Lane, we're gonna meet Mayce on the benches. Mk?" I told them. We all got out and started walking.
