Part 6
When Lane left, I went upstairs and sat
on my bed and cried. I missed her so much, and now
she's going to be living with us! I haven't seen
her in years, but now I'll be seeing her everyday. I
heard a car door close outside. I wiped my tears on my
shirt, reapplied my makeup quickly and greeted Danny.
"Hey babe." I smiled. He grinned, too.
"Hey. Can you hold the food?" He handed me a
box full of rice, lo Mein, fortune cookies, soy sauce,
duck sauce, sweet&sour chicken, and dumplings.
"Woah!" I said. I walked into the kitchen as
Danny brought his hockey equipment. He played
center and left wing, so his bag was always light.
Danny put them in the hallway, and followed me into the
kitchen. We started eating immediately. "Pass the
dumplings." Danny mumbled while stuffing his face
with chicken. I giggled. "Here." He mumbled
something else, which I thought was 'thanks'. We
ate in silence for a few minutes. I was cramming my mouth
with lo Mein, considering it was my favorite. "So
what'd she want?" Danny asked. I looked over.
"Well, she'll be living with us." I
replied, smiling. "Why?" He said in disgust.
"Umm, she's my sister and I haven't
seen her in years. That's why. Plus her dad
doesn't have enough money to take care of her."
I answered. Danny picked at his rice. It was silent for a
few seconds. The air was still and the emotions in the
room were intense. Why isn't Danny happy? "Then
put her up for adoption..." He murmured. I gasped.
"What the hell, Danny?!?! She's my
SISTER!" I stood up. "And if you
don't want to be here with her, then--" I
stopped myself. He looked up at me in anger. "Then
what?! I can leave? Good." Danny stood up.
"What the hell Daniel?! What is up with you?" I
pushed his shoulder. He kept walking. Danny walked
upstairs and I could hear drawers opening. He actually
was leaving. I sat back down in my seat and
cried for the third time
tonight.
