Chapter 20

We walked back into the dining room.
"Oh my god! Melissa you look gorgeous!" Chelsea complimented.
Everyone at the table agreed.
A blush appeared on Melissa's cheeks. "Thanks."
"Brett, don't just say nothing! Compliment her!" Rose ordered.
"Rose!" Melissa hissed.
"Melissa, you look pretty." I lied. She's not pretty, she's gorgeous.
Her face turned even redder. D/mn, this girl really likes to blush.
After that, we began eating our Thanksgiving dinner. Melissa was hoarding every kinds of food on the table, except for the turkey.
"Why are you avoiding the turkey?" Justin asked.
"I'm a vegetarian." she answered.
"Wow Melissa, you're really different from the old Melissa." I said, referring to middle school.
"Ah yes, back then when hair ironing was essential, and nail polish was totally fantabulous!" she said in a high-pitched girly voice. I let out a laugh.
"Weird, you're exactly the same." Melissa said.
"How?" I asked, curious.
"Oh you know, you're smart, athletic, every girl wants you yada yada yada."
"Wow, I sound like a total package." I admitted.
Melissa's P.O.V.
After we finished eating Thanksgiving dinner, everyone went to the ball room for the after party.
"Melissa, come dance with us!" Rose said, pulling one of my arms, Lily pulling the other.
I dance with them for awhile until they got tired, and Brett brought them back to their rooms. Meanwhile, I went over to the tables with the deserts. I felt a tap on my shoulder.
I turned around, seeing a handsome guy. "Hey."
"Hey." I said back.
"I'm Louis. I see that you're enjoying the deserts here." he commented. He seem generally like a nice guy.
"I'm Melissa. And yeah, these deserts are amazingly delicious." I added.
"After you're done eating your desert, wanna dance?" Louis asked.
I was about to say sure, until Brett came over and placed his arm around me.
"Sorry, she's taken." Brett told him.
"What are you-" Brett put his hand over my mouth.
"Oh, sorry dude. I'll go then." Louis backed off.
"Uh, what was that for? He seem like a nice guy!" I told him.
"Do you remember what happened before dinner? I don't want to end up punching two faces in one day. And besides, my whole family is here. They can't see me punching someone." Brett said.
"But he seemed nice!"
"You shouldn't be talking to strangers anyway."
"Heyyyyyyyyyyyy! You're so prettyyyyy!" Chelsea said. She and Justin walked over to us.
"Chelsea's drunk." Justin told us.
"Woah, you are sooooo hotttttt! Let's get married!" Chelsea said to Justin.
"Yeah, you're seriously drunk. I'm gonna bring you back to our room." Justin carried Chelsea bridal style and left the ballroom.
"Did you drink yet?" I asked Brett.
"Nah, I don't drink."
"I don't drink either. It's kinda illegal."
A slow song came on. "Wanna dance?" Brett asked.
I shrugged. "Why not?"
He pulled me on the dance floor, one hand on my waist and the other holding my hand. I laughed as we swayed to the music.
"You aren't a very good dancer." Brett chuckled.
"Well what do you know, I was gonna say the same thing to you." I said with a wink.
"Anyways, I wanted to tell you how much I admire your shoes." Brett said sarcastically.
"Why thank you. You're the first one to notice."
"Only you would wear those shoes under a gown like that." 
"Hey, what's the point of wearing heels when no one can see my shoes anyway?"
"I saw your shoes."
"That's different. You notice everything."
"Must be a part of me being 'perfect'." 
"Hey, our grandmas are watching us. I'm just gonna to bed. You coming?" I asked.
"Go to sleep or party with old ladies? Hmmm."
I let out a laugh. We went back to our rooms. "By the way, I have the girls in my room. So you can sleep more. I owe you." Brett told me.
"Really? Thank you!" I threw my arms around him but quickly pulling back.
I went back to my room, changed into sweatpants and a t-shirt and went right to bed. Today was a little bit.... insane.
