I owe it to the subway

Intro

Hi, i’m Elena.

17, living in Boston.

It’s a scary place, but it’s home.

I have pale blonde hair, and blue eyes.

The way you look, or what you have doesn’t matter to me.

Maybe it’s because I don’t have very much.

I was 8 when we first started struggling.

We started to loose everything.

All I had left was a guitar, & my voice.

So every night, when my mom was too drunk to notice, i’d walk down to the subway, and sing.

I would sing all night long.

I’d come home around 2 am, and slip the money i’d made into mom’s purse.

I didn’t have much to give to the world, and not much to take away.

But I felt like I owed it something, so i’ve been singing every night since I was 8.

This is my story.
