Never cut a tree down in the wintertime. Never make a negative decision in the low time. Never make your most important decisions when you are in your worst moods. Wait. Be patient. The storm will pass. The spring will come.
“ I have a lot more patience for others than I have for myself, and I’m much better at bringing out the best in others than in myself. That’s just the kind of person I am. I’m the scratchy stuff on the side of the matchbox. But that’s fine with me. I don’t mind at all. Better to be a first-class matchbox than a second-class match. —Haruki Murakami ”
There's a tiny ambush hunter hanging in a dark corner of my bathroom. Each of her eight legs holds a different strand, waiting for vibrations. What superb patience she must have! Imagine first her long disciplined activity while weaving that intricate trap followed in turn by her death-like immobility while waiting for a victim to bring her next meal. How long will she wait? I see no insect candidates anywhere. What gives her faith that she has chosen a good location? Would she ever reconsider that choice? What could she possibly be thinking of as she passes the time? Does she not feel boredom? Does she not grow hungry? Does she not become anxious? Her metabolic rate must be nearly zero to succeed in such a strategy, and yet she must react quickly when the opportunity appears. I get hungry all the time. I get impatient watching the microwave oven tick down. I feel imposed upon waiting even one minute for a traffic light to turn green. I get bored quickly and depend on various electronics to offer distractions and fill the silence in my apartment. I definitely don’t have what it takes to be an ambush hunter. quote and format by Raxin
“Passion has little to do with euphoria and everything to do with patience. It is not about feeling good. It is about endurance. Like patience, passion comes from the same Latin root: pati. It does not mean to flow with exuberance. It means to suffer.” — Mark Z. Danielewski, House of Leaves
I was telling a girl in the bar about my uncanny ability to guess the day a woman was born on just by feeling their breasts."Really?" she said. "Go on then... Try."After about 30 seconds of fondling she began to lose patience. "Come on," she demanded, "What day was I born on?" "Yesterday?" I replied.
Today in British Literature We were supposed to be writing our essays And this kid next to me Blabbed for the whole hour and a half About how he only got 5 cheetos in his bag that he paid $1.75 for He just wouldn't stop talking about it
&& then he said; Sometimes, we need to stop. Stop analysing the past, stop planning for the future, stop trying to figure out exactly how we feel, why & when, stop deciding what we want to feel. Sometimes, we just have to let it happen. ♥
