My ex-boyfriend lost his dad and his
brother when he was little. His mom raised 2 children on her
own and he grew up with the notion that he wouldn't ever go
to college because he wouldn't be able to afford it. When
he was 14, he realized he could sing and play guitar better
than the average person. He started doing shows at small diners
and played on street corners in Boston. He saved up enough over
4 years to pay for at least two years of a community college
(which is a decent amount of money). His sister was in a
serious car accident over the weekend, and her medical bills
were something their mother could not afford, and he just gave
up his college tuition to help his little sister without even
thinking about it. I wish we could have more people who
aren't as selfish, people who value love over
money.
