He'd probably take a ring of yours to the store so they'd know what size to order the ring in, they have these long cone things they slide the ring on so you know what size it is (like a giant taper but for rings.) Jewelers only carry limited sizes (I think mainly 6's) so it's actually kinda rare to pick out a ring and just take it with you that day. And if all else fails if it is too small or too big you can always get it re-sized. Lol sorry for the big bit of pointless information you never asked for.
