I know your feel. We never got to see them live. Two of them died before most of us could have ever seen them. We never got to live with them.

For the record I like both, so I see both sides of it. My chemical romance fans didn't see it coming, but you knew in advance that the Beatles broke up and that two of them were dead. And on the other hand for Beatles fans, two of them are dead and they were not together for long so...
Oh and they broke up in April 1970

John Lennon decided to leave the band in late 1969, it was officially announced in 70

I feel bad for MCR fans, but it's their decision that they broke up- be happy that they were such a great band and listen to all their music because being sad won't do any good :)

you weren't alive when they broke up... they were already broken up when you started listening to them... MCR just gave us a paragraph, saying that they were breaking up... it was sudden, and unexpected. that is until Gerard wrote a whole novel(not literally)... but still...
thumbs up 0 thumbs down reply

FlorenceSong · 1 decade ago
That's exactly the point at least you were alive when MCR was. At least none of them have died like 2 of the Beatles.
thumbs up 0 thumbs down reply

youimbeciles · 1 decade ago
well, yeah.. so it's not the same effect as an abrupt break-up, with merely a paragraph.. I'm not looking for an argument, I'm just stating that this quote was kind of uncalled for... I mean, you don't have to have sympathy for us... but you definitely don't need to plaster it everywhere cause It may hurt someones feelings, or get them really really angry and start freaking out at you. :P you definite could have saved yourself some trouble... but it is your witty, and no one can stop you from posting whatever you want.. haha .

I was crying for hours. I've never been that depressed^.^ At least you weren't born when the Beatles broke up. I didn't see it coming. It honestly felt like my best friend passed away.

Just be happy they're all alive, it's not like all of them are just going to completely drop out of the music world. They'll join other bands, prob have a reunion, they'll most likely get back together in a few years. Just be happy none of them were murdered like John Lennon was.

Good point :/ I guess I still have their music and memories. Sorry :3 Don't get me wrong, I love the Beatles, I just saw your quote and automatically thought you were critisising. My bad c:

It's totally ok(: It's not like you left a rude comment or anything(: And don't worry with all the stuff John, Paul and George did solo it made up for the beatles breaking up, and Ringo, well, no one really cares about Ringo. I hope it'll be that way for MCR as well, they'll prob end up each making a band of their own. Then you'll just have a new band to like for every old member of MCR(:

Just be happy they toured for 12 years, the beatles only toured for 3. Just be happy all the members of MCR are alive. 2 of the beatles aren't. I'm a hardcore MCR fan but I'm not going to say that what you say about the Beatles isn't correct even though I am not a fan of older music. Your opinion is your opinion. But I don't think that this isn't the kindest thing you could've posted. MCR's music is what kept my best friend and many others alive. I wouldn't be who I am today without them. Yes the Beatles were great, but please show some respect on here. Some people have never experienced their favorite band breaking up and it has been tough for some of us. There has already been 11 suicides because of the break. This isn't the most uplifting post about the news.

Thank you(: that was the point of the quote the beatles were pretty much the most popular band ever and here people are complaining about MCR braking up, but they should just be happy they're still alive, that they toured for 12 years, the beatles only toured for 3 years before they became a studio only band. MCR will prob get back together in a few years, or at least have a reunion. That will never happen for the beatles.

definition · 1 decade ago
Exactly. MCR is still alive, they can still get back together, they can make a different band, they can reunite, plus they had an amazing run, 12 years is a pretty decent amount of time to be producing music and touring. But compared to the Beatles they weren't nearly as great or successful and that's coming from someone whose favourite band was MCR. Also, MCR literally quite the band with the most impersonal little paragraph to there fans. I was more mad at them for doing that then sad that they broke up.
Oh and also we all could have seen MCR live if we really wanted to, none of us would have ever gotten the chance to see The Beatles live, thats anther reason why I agree with you.
thumbs up 0 thumbs down reply

FlorenceSong · 1 decade ago
Thank you!(: that's exactly what I'm saying, I think MCR was a very good band I like a lot of their songs. Their fans should just be happy none of the members were murdered like John was. All of MCR is alive and their aren't going to completely quite music.

Did she say that the beatles were better? No. Coming from another hardcore beatles fan, I think what she is saying is that she had no sympathy for MCR fans because you were ALIVE when they were touring and making music. Besides, you can still hold on to the fact that they could get back together, a hope beatles's fans could never have bc George and John are dead and Paul and Ringo are in their 70's working solo. She has no sympathy for you because she's had to go threw this pain since the moment she discovered the Beatlesmania. I have no sympathy for you either.

im neither a fan of the beatles or my chemical romance but i found it quite rude that you would claim that your opinion is better than someone else's. just because they like a band that is not the beatles does not give you the right to judge their music tastes. that is their opinion and you have your opinion. agree to disgree and show respect. you dont have to like them just respect their opinion.
thumbs up 0 thumbs down reply

FlorenceSong · 1 decade ago
This has nothing to do with taste in music. I don't know where you got that idea. I actually like MCR. I'm saying that the way people are reacting, have seen some crazy posts, not as much on witty but on Tumblr. Bands brake up everyday. People survive. The point is the beatles broke up more than half a century ago, and they are still an extremely popular band. If you want to know why I give the beatles the title of greatest ever read my other replies. And even if you don't like the beatles, you can't deny how they changed music. Whatever music you like and listen to, is influenced by the beatles starting the British invasion.

peacegirl270 · 1 decade ago
suuuuuuure. they "definately" started the british invasion. believe what you want but i would recommend practicing respect instead of ignoring how people are hurting and telling them that the beatles are better is just being ignorant. just be a better person and never post something like this ever again. thanks.

You preach respect and the right to an opinion. And here you stand telling me, I'm ignorant and telling me what I should post. And yes the Beatles were the first to have a hit on American radio. Thus starting the British Invasion. Please practice what you preach. Just be a be a better person and never comment something like this ever again. Thanks.

Even if you don't think they are the greatest band ever, you have to agree they were the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed act in the rock music era.
To date, the Beatles have sold over 1 billion records. That’s billion, with a B.

They have the most no. 1 albums in the British album charts (15), and 17 No. 1 hits.

They broke up in 69 released an album in 09 with 2 memebers dead, and it spent eight weeks at no. 1 and sold 13 million copies in its first month of release.

They boast 20 No. 1 hits in the United States, (19 No. 1 albums), with 24 consecutive Top 10 hits from 1964 to 1976 (six years after they broke up), a record for a group. They also have 12 no. 1 hits in Germany, 23 in Australia, 21 in the Netherlands, 22 in Canada, and 13 in Malaysia.

According to the United World Chart, the Beatles have 16 of the 100 most successful tracks of all time, and also 7 of the 100 most successful albums in history.

The Beatles recorded four of the Top 10 Greatest Albums of All Time, according to Rolling Stone magazine, and three of the Top Five

Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart’s Club Band is arguably the greatest album ever made (indeed, it topped Rolling Stone‘s list). While it doesn’t have the strongest material, the album was a landmark in recording. It popularized the concept album – something that would serve as inspiration to The Who and Pink Floyd.

They have 23 of the Top 500 songs of all time, again according to Rolling Stone - the most of any artist.

They revolutionized the science of recording, using multiple tracks instead of playing live. Producer George Martin used varying tape speeds to make Lennon’s voice sound high (“Tomorrow Never Knows”) and slow (“Strawberry Fields Forever”); he also brought in string musicians to accompany certain songs (“Yesterday”). In another session, McCartney utilized bass drums halfway down a corridor to achieve a staccato sound in “Mother Nature’s Son.”

In an age where other people wrote songs for the flavor of the day – think the Brill Building songwriters doing all the work for the Shangri-Las and the Dixie Cups – The Beatles surprised everyone by penning their own hits from the beginning. As a result, they helped usher the singer-songwriter movement that popularized the late 1960s.

Their place in popular culture is unrivaled – Their movies, their appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show (in which they played to 74 million people), the “bigger than Jesus” comment, the refusal to play in concert after 1966, the Maharishi, the painstaking production work, the beginnings of the drug culture and LSD fad, “Helter Skelter” and Charles Manson, the “Paul is Dead” phenomenon, Yoko Ono, the rooftop concert, the cover of Abbey Road, the subsequent solo years, and the hit singles created from rough demos of the late Lennon.

They accomplished all this in seven years.

You didn't have to write a paragraph about their success, the dude is right anyway. No matter how successful they were, it's still based on opinion.

a band is graded on how many albums are sold or how many no.1's they got. it based on the quality of their music. quality is based on opinion so you have no right to say that successful by basing it on numbers, base it on the music not the stats.

FlorenceSong · 1 decade ago
