I just love when people say they're huge fans of something based on books.
"ermagerd!!!!!111111!! I LURRVVV HARRY POTTER <333333"
Oh, really? What's your favorite book?
"dere r books???"
Um, yeah.

LIKE STFU, YOU CAN'T SAY YOU LOVE SOMETHING UNLESS YOU'VE READ THE DAMN BOOKS.

One thing I hate is when everyone knows I'm like the biggest fan of Harry Potter EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Then some stupid, ignorant idiot is like 'OMG I JUST LOVE HARRY POTTER, IM THE BIGGEST FAN EVER!', and then i'm like ' do you even remember how to perform the Wingardium Leviosa spell?'

That's why I haven't watched the Lord of the Rings yet.... *one more book until I finish the trilogy*

I kind of agree, but it's almost as immature to get angry over people who are not "real fans" as acting like you love something for sympathy. Personally, I don't think reading or not reading the book makes you a fan, I have friends who have read The Hunger Games just to be cool. But they barely remember it. They didn't enjoy it. I read the first book 3 times over and over again and I remember every detail. I'm not saying this to come out as a "real fan", I'm saying it to prove my point. It isn't about reading or not, fandom is about enjoying it. And being immature about THESE things isn't going to make you a great fan. Hyperventilating over someone/some action isn't the same as freaking out when somebody hasn't read the book.

I disagree completely. The Walking Dead is one of my favorite tv shows of all times. It was based off of a comic series, and is really successful. I have only read one book in the series, because I can't afford to buy all of those books and they are always taken at the library and I'm not really a comic book kind of girl, honestly. It wasn't my thing. BUT, I've seen every episode twice, watched so much behind the scenes stuff, and I discuss the latest episode with my friends every Monday. But just because I didn't read all of the comics it was based off of, I'm not a real fan.

Like for Lord of the Rings. I struggled through the books because I wanted the whole story. And I mean struggled. Tolkien's writing made you lose focus quickly.
Or Phantom of the Opera. Everyone seems to forget that Gaston Leroux wrote the original in 1909...

I praise this quote. When people say they're the biggest fans of something but don't know what SPEW is or who Madge is... that annoys the f*ck outta me -.-

Oh, I didn't see your comment xD But I hate when people say "I'm a huge Hunger Games fan!" or "I absolutely love the Hunger Games!" but they haven't read the books. And because that's my favorite series, I obviously go into this huge lecture...

Oh god, I know dude. Well, no one really says anything about Harry Potter because everyone thinks it's for nerds, but still. xD Like Pretty Little Liars... oh my god, I hate when people are all gaga over the tv show but have never read the books. kldsgh;lsdkgh

I haven't read the books, but I also don't watch the show. I haven't ready Harry Potter...I started the first book but realized it really wasn't my kind of thing, you know. But I can't stand things like that...ugh.

I hate it too. There are loads of movies I didn't know were books first, but that doesn't mean I'm their "BIGGEST FAN" I adore HP, and I have read the books.

I had a conversation with a kid once and he told me his favorite book was number 8 end I was like.. There is no "book 8" and he was like then why are there 8 movies and then I was just so frustrated with his stupidity I just walked away.

sakghd;klgbs this goes for so many things: Harry Potter, Pretty Little Liars, Twilight (although it's not one of my favorites, it still counts :P), Hunger Games, Perks of Being a Wallflower, and soo many other movies/shows/books. It irritates the sh//t out of me.
