Ugh, ikr? I live in Tassie, and everything (petrol, alcohol, any food than needs to come from the mainland, plane tickets out of this hell-hole, elec-fxcking-tricity...) is EVEN HIGHER than other states. It sucks being an island state in an island country.

Alcohol is pretty expensive. But i guess so. But like it was back in the 20's if you cut people off they get around it. Like the moonshining stuff. Concert tickets as well ~_~ And movie tickets. Because there is no logical reason for 13.00 for a movie.

Making alcohol and cigarettes more expensive won't stop people from buying it. It would specifically place pressure on people in lower socio economic classes who, no longer able to afford the substances, would turn to crime and violence in order to finance/cope with their addiction.
