Thanks for all the comments! There are some I've read, but those I haven't, I'll definitely be looking into them and adding some to my library.
For my project, I've chosen Khaled Hosseini's 'A Kite Runner' because I already have the book and its such a good story.

There's this book called "Winter Garden" by Kristin Hannah. She's my favorite author and an excellent writer. This particular book is about a mother and two daughters and their relationship. The mother is pretty nonexistent in their lives and the daughters are trying to help her.
I didn't really do much of a good job explaining it, but I promise it's one of the best books you'll ever read. It's inspiring and I don't even know how to describe it. If you don't read it for your book report you HAVE to read in your own time one day!

Geez, uhm everybody else has these wonderful suggestions, but if all else fails, if you havne't read him before, try just about anything by John Green. If you need a book report, definitely do read Looking For Alaska, it's appropriate (used in high school lit. classes), most definitely inspiring, and full of deeper meaning. Or Paper Towns. Or tFiOS. Or Will Grayson, Will Grayson. (Wow, two Will Graysons!) Or An Abundance of Katherines. Anyone of those will do for a book report, or any other requirements you may have.

i just finished 'staying fat for sarah byrnes' and while the title sounds stupid i was in love with the book i finished reading it in 3 days and idk. there was a lot of character development and plot substance to do a book report.

The Final Testiment of the Holy Bible - James Frey. Good if you're looking for something controversial and eye opening. To Kill a Mockingbird is good for book reports as well.
