The Little Things
~Prologue~
"I'm home!" I shout when I enter the door. Five gorgeous guys run down the stairs and surround me in tight hugs and shouts. They help me carry my luggage up the stairs and set it in the living room. "Hey Mom," I hug my mom tightly. "And Momma Two," I laugh, hugging Mrs. Payne. "Speaking of, where's my super famous big brother?" I laugh, feeling him hug me from behind. "Hey Val," He laughs, "Hey there Liam." I smile. So here's the deal, Liam and I have been best friends since we could talk, and probably before that. Since my mom and his mom are best friends, we grew up together. But, in the past two years, his band One Direction has become super huge and I've been away at a boarding school my junior and senior years of highschool. However, the bandmates have become family, and Liam and I have remained as close as ever.
"How was your trip?" Mrs Payne asks. "Oh, you know, as fun as a long plane trip can be," I laugh. My mom rolls her eyes. "Stop complaining, you love your school," I hug her again. "I know, I just miss being home," I smile.
"Well, why don't you put your stuff in your room, so we can eat then hang out for a little bit before everyone has to go back home," Mom suggests. I smile and Liam offers to help carry my stuff upstairs. When we're alone in my room I notice that he seems different. Too sad, too not like Liam. then I remember.. Him and Danielle recently broke up. I know we'll talk about it later, but now's not the time.
"What's for dinner?" I ask him, while unpacking some clothes. "Homemade pizza.. But me and the guys made it..So it may not be too good," He laughs. I laugh too and when we're almost done unpacking, head downstairs to eat.
The pizza actually is amazing, and the guys keep the table laughing loudly all night. When we're done, the guys and I go into the basement while Mom and Momma Payne drink their wine.
"How's stuff been for you guys?" I ask them while we watch Tv. "Busy," Niall answers, with too much food in his mouth. Harry and Louis are laughing by themselves about a joke I assume no one else heard. Zayn is texting madly, probably Perrie. And then there's Liam, looking too depressed to speak.
Somethings changed and I know it. Everything seemed normal by the way the guys greeted me at the stairs but now.. no one's speaking to me the way they used to, everyone's wrapped up in their own drama.
And something about Liam.. more than just his saddness, something about the way he looks at me now.
And maybe.. something about the way I look at him.
