I usually laugh and smile hysterically and insult them because that's what I do when I am put under an uncomfortable situation and then they get offended. Especially if a guy I really don't like tells me that. Then I have to apologize and return the favor. I hate compliments.....

Smile (genuinely, because you're happy because somebody likes something about you!(: ) say thank you (again, genuinely!), and compliment them back (genuinely!) :)

By smiling and saying thank you, occasionally giving a honest one back. :) Even if you truly don't believe it, denying compliments is rude and sometimes sounds really annoying, plus if you come across a person who won't try to convince you, it can bring your confidence down.

Just say thank you and be appreciative and try not to be paranoid about the possibility that they're lying to make you feel good about yourself and internally laughing as your confidence rises as a result of their deceitful façade.

Denial can either sound cute, insincere, or (if you're being serious) a little annoying. Take the compliment and say thanks. Sometimes return a genuine one while you're at it :)
