I know why! It's because girls have the instinct to carry a baby and so they hold their books on their hips or their chests and then guys hold footballs and things like that under their arm(:

my guy friends said its because boys hands are bigger so they can hold more, while girls hands are smaller so they need 2 hands or just one arm to hold the books(:
