I remember what this website used to be. So many people would use it every day - not for drama, not for faves or followers or comments or anything like that. Top quotes could have up to 3000 faves, at least six/seven/eight hundred. Spam messages were pretty rare, and although you did get trolls, they were ignored pretty often. You could refresh the 'New Quotes' page every half minute and get tons of totally new quotes. The majority of quotes were original. The vast majority weren't made for faves, and many didn't get more than ten, but at least everyone made them. Top quotes were original and interesting - they were funny, or cute, or inspiring, or memorable. Now what? Now top quotes get 300 faves, tops. Traffic's slow, people are spamming comments all the time, and more users are interested in having followers and faves than making decent quotes. People steal formats all the time, and most quotes are just copies off of tumblr or something like that. Troll accounts are the norm, stupid accounts for 'witty gossip' are around, people delete and report quotes and users out of nothing but spite, more quotes are complaints than any other topic. It's no fun to come on here any more. The great users, the beautiful format makers, the inspiring quote writers - they're hardly active. Many have left, either because it was time, which is fair enough, or because they hated where this website was going. It's not more than spite nowadays. & I wonder what new users think. I remember when I first joined, I thought it was a really cool site, but now it's just dull. It's just boring and annoying and sad. I'm genuinely thinking about leaving too, because even though I couldn't care less about how many faves this or that quote gets and my follower account doesn't affect my activity at all, I'm getting really freaking tired of trolls, spammers, idiots who can't take another person's opinion, drama, and all this unnecessary bull that seems to be the nrom nowadays. And I know that whenever people bring it up - because they have, I've read quotes talking about this exact problem - they're either ignored, or the quote is bombarded with idiotic comments like how directioners or witty-famous people ruined it. No! The fact is, no-one is favouriting stuff anymore. The problem is, very few users are writing decent, honest-to-god decent quotes. The freaking thing is, witty has become really freaking annoying. I hate it, and all I can do to change that is keep on using the website like I wish everyone did. Make quotes because you want to, even if the format's dull. Fave every quote you like. Follow whoever you want - it's not 'trendy' or whatever to follow two people, it's just a choice and you don't have to do it just because a witty-famous person does it. Don't report a quote unless it genuinely needs reporting. Don't spam, because it's annoying and useless and stupid. If you want this website to go back to how it was, then stop complaining and stop doing exactly what you're freaking complaining about. Ignore the trolls, ignore the stupid 'gossip' accounts, literally use the ignore feature to block people if you hate seeing their quotes all the time. Ignore those who can't accept your opinion - it's your opinion and they're approval doesn't affect it in any way. To the idiots here, stop messing up this website. For some users, it's their (only) space to let out steam. Stop it, because if you don't, before you know it, witty won't have any amazing users left because you'll have driven them all away. Right. Okay. That felt good. #rantover

I totally agree with you. I've had a witty account since 2009, obviously not this one, (I was 11, oops. And now everyone's complaining about 12 year olds being on it. Like when I was on it, no one gave a d.mn.)
People are being so stupid, and honestly it's saddening to see how the quotes and people and atmosphere has changed. Now people don't want people from their school to see their witty, and I remember some of my brother's friends had some so of course I had to join. It's just ridiculous.

This is the best quote I've seen all day. I've been on witty for 1-2 years now, so i know what it was like. I feel like there aren't many real wittians left anymore. I knew witty was going downhill from the moment the vent section was taken away. >.< I don't even know why I still come back to this website everyday- it's almost the same thing as tumblr.

This is so true- I've been on here a year and 6 months (I think). It's completely different than when I started. Granted, everyone complained about things then too. We had like 10 witty famous people, and they were the only ones who had top quotes. Everyone hated it. But now they've all left and moved on.

I have only been here a little over a year, but yet i still agree with you. i dont know exactly how it was before, but it sure sounds nice. Even since i got here it has changed a ton. But i stopped coming on for a few months and i come back, and i still see repeats of quotes i have seen hundreds of times. this should def have more faves. thank you for posting this though

Amen, sister! I'm seriously considering leaving. I made my account about four years ago, but I just remembered my Witty password in January and I went to check what was on it and--SPLAT. I've seen no less than ten repeats of some quotes, the awesome Wittians have left, I sometimes think I see more shoutouts to followers and unfollowers than anythings else, and quite a few of the people on this site are just going down in my esteem. Where did all the awesomeness go? There's so much hate on this site now that I'm starting to doubt even the credibility of the mods. THE MODS. THE MODS THEMSELVES. I still go on, because I still see some hilarious quotes, but now it's hard to remember why I liked Witty so much.

I get where you're coming from, I've been on with for three years, and I really miss the old witty. It slowly started being less and less popular. I've always loved witty and I still come on everyday. It's changed so ugh but it doesn't mean we have to stop expressing what we think. We can still add quotes, and if you get hate so be it. We can't change anyone, we just have to make the best of it!

Oh my god, yes. When I made my first account in, ugh, 2009-ish? Witty was so different than it is now. All the quotes were pretty original, with a lot of thought and care put into the wording and the formats were the user's own - not using other people's codes. They might not have been as advanced in the coding as some now, but they were still pretty AND they got faves. There were some arguments, but they were sorted quickly and people actually cared about each other. It was a wonderful site. Now I just don't know why I bother.

I joined last year in July and even I've seen a change since then, everyone's quotes are either depressing or some extremely unoriginal quote about a crush, I strive to only post inspiring things but it's really surprising how things have changed in such a short time.
