Actually, did you even think about how much they can lose if they do decide to tell their crush, for example, best friend how much they love them? If he says no, do you know what they will lose? Not only a shot a relationship, but they won't even have their best friend anymore.
You on the other hand, if you head up to him, talk to him and tell him how you feel and he says no, you won't remotely lose as much as they have. Yes it will hurt, just like it will hurt with them, but you will move on because you can't really miss something that you never really had. So yes, they do have a big enough reason to complain.
Now how would you feel if I told you that YOU don't have a reason to complain because at least you won't lose a friend if he says no?

I do not agree because its human nature that when we get something we want more of it. So when we are best friends with our crush we want them to feel the same way as we do 'cause they are already our best friends and now we want more of them .... :)
