I'm sorry but no... I am totally for gay marriage and everything but being things like an alcoholic, addicted to drugs or a sociopath is sorta like being gay...you cant control it. I'm not going to go on some long rant about how my mom is an alcoholic anad i'm just fine but just.. dont say things you know so little about.

@Lizzie_ 1. True 2. She didn't say it was a permanent thing, but some people do not get help and the alchohol actually does lead to bad parenting. Alchohol makes people have bad decisions in life. I'm not saying that your brother is a bad person, but some alchoholics really are not good for parenting. 3. She wasn't talking about ALL religious people. There are some people who FORCE thier religion upon others and don't like taking no for an answer. There are some people who do not accept anyone elses religion. I would know, I'm pretty sure I'm an aethiest, and I get the speach of religion from people a lot. Trust me, there's always a wacko for something!(:

I find this sort of rude.
1. Half of the people you listed here get their children taken away from social services.
2. Like someone said before, alcoholics suffer from an addiction. I hate it when people use the term alcoholic as something that can't be cured. My older brother became alcoholic after his first child was born, and after getting help, he is now the most amazing parent I know.
3. I'm guessing you consider every single religious person out there a "hateful wacko", so I'm going to take offense because my mom is one of those. And you know what? She is the best person ever in the world. I've gone through so much, and she never gave up on me.

Alcoholics can, and are, amazing dedicated parents that are suffering from an addiction. They're no different then the "normal" parents. Some get help and are able to control it and lead an otherwise normal lifestyle.
