I Love to Hate You
Chapter 5
"Oh my god. You look so good!" she exclaimed, and hugged me. I don't know what I was expecting, but a hug was definitely not it. 
"Thanks. But if you'll excuse me, I have a karaoke club to run." I said, kind of rudely, and started to walk away.
"Car, wait! We haven't seen each other in years, don't you wanna catch up?" she asked. Was she serious? 
"We don't have anything to catch on up. We were never friends. We aren't friends." I said, making it clear as I walked over to James. 
The rest of the night was fun, with James and I singing along to the songs, and meeting new customers that loved the place. At the end of the night though, I had to think about the kiss we shared. I couldn't get it off my mind.
The next morning, I woke up and made sure that my flat was extremely clean, because a potential roommate was coming to look at it today. 
I threw on a white tie tank top and a pair of high waisted jean shorts. I wore my brown sandals with the outfit, curled my hair, and put on my makeup. 
By the time I was finished getting ready, the doorbell rang. I walked over to the small door and opened it, not knowing what kind of person my future roommate may be. When I opened the door and was greeted with the sight of Zayn Malik, I was shocked. Was this some kind of joke? 
"Carly? I didn't know you lived here." he said, walking into the apartment. 
"I didn't know you were looking for a flat." I replied, closing the door. 
"Something low key, you know?" he said, and I nodded my head. 
"Would it be too weird if I lived here? I know things are kind of tense between you and the five of us." he said. I took a few seconds to think it over, but Zayn really didn't bother me, so I didn't mind sharing my flat with him. 
"No. Not at all. And I hope you guys don't think that I hate you." I said, starting to feel guilty. These guys never did anything to me. 
"Well, we all figured you're just kind of shy. But Liam, he thinks you hate him." 
"That's because I do." I replied. 
"But why? You hardly even know him." Zayn said. 
"That's a story for another day roomie. So when are you moving in?" I asked. 
"Well do you mind if I start moving my stuff today?" he asked. 
"Not at all! Do you need any help?" I asked him, and he nodded. 
"Alright then roomie, let's get to work!" I said, following him out to his car.

"Who knew a guy could have THAT much stuff!" I exclaimed, throwing myself onto the couch in the middle of my, I mean our, living room. 
"Back off. A lot of it's necessary." Zayn said, trying to defend himself. 
"Oh yeah, those thirty five picture frames filled with pictures of Taylor Swift were really necessary." I replied, making him laugh. 
"Hey, she's photo worthy." he responded, which only made me laugh harder. Throughout the day, I got to know Zayn more, and he was actually a really funny guy. I had a feeling he would be a good roommate too. 
"Okay, so seriously. What's going on between you and Liam?" he asked.
"I really don't like to talk about it." I said, my eyes staring at the floor.
"Carly, come on. It can't be that bad." he said. If only he knew. 
"Zayn, I will tell you. Soon. I promise. Just not today." I said, finally meeting his gaze. He looked like he understood, and I was glad he wasn't pushing me to talk about what really happened between Liam and I.
