I Love to Hate You
Chapter 5
"Hi James! Lookin' good!" I said, opening the door to my apartment to find an adorable looking James, ready to go check out my karaoke club for the first time ever tonight. 
"Hey Car, you look amazing as usual." he said, kissing my cheek. I blushed slightly and followed James to his car. He drove to the club and there was a massive line outside the front. Wonderful. 
"I gotta go check some things in the back, help yourself to anything, it's on the house!" I said over my shoulder as I walked to the back room. I filled out a bit of paperwork and went through the books to see how our budget was. 
About a half hour later, I walked out to see the doors just opening. 
"Okay, you definitely have to sing." I said to James. 
"No way. Not in front of people." he replied. 
"Oh come on! You'll be better than half the people here, I bet." I said. 
"Only if you sing with me." he challenged. 
"Fine. At ten thirty." I said, because that's usually when I sang. 
"Deal." he said, walking off to the bar. I laughed to myself and shook myself, excited for ten thirty to come. 
Everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves, and things got crazy when Harry, Zayn, Louis, and Niall walked in. They spotted me and they waved me over, so I walked to the table they just sat down at. 
"Hey Carly. How's everything?" Harry asked, looking me up and down. 
"Great. Can I get you anything?" I asked, trying to be polite. 
"No, we're good. Thank you." Zayn said, smiling at me. 
"So, uh, where's Liam?" I asked casually. 
"Oh, he's coming later, he's picking up an old friend." Louis said. I wonder if I know this 'old friend.' I sure hope not. 
When ten thirty rolled around, James got up on stage, and called my name into the microphone. 
"My good friend Carly and I will be performing a duet." he told the audience. 
"What do you want us to sing?" I asked once I got up on stage. 
"Suprise us!" the people screamed. 
"Okay, Tommy number 57, hit it!"  said, pointing to the DJ. James looked confused, because he had no idea what song we would be singing. 
"We got some Celine Dion up in here!" I shouted into the microphone. James' face got as white as a ghost as he realized what song he would be singing. I just laughed and started to belt out the theme song to the Titanic. It was my best song, really. At the chorus, I stopped singing and let James take it away. I have to admit, for a guy singing this song, he was pretty good. 
During the bridge of the song, the door opened and  saw a guy walk in. 
Liam. And there was a girl on his arm. Liam caught my gaze, and I looked away. I grabbed James' hand and sang to him, and the crowd went wild. At the end of the song, I kissed him. And he kissed my back. When I pulled away, we took our bows, and everybody was cheering. Everybody except for Liam. 
I got off stage and went to the back room, followed by James. 
"What was that?" he asked incredulously. 
"You're a really good kisser." I said, not answering the question. 
"Thanks. But I thought we were just friends?..." he sais, although it sounded more like a question than a statement. 
"But you're also my fake boyfriend." I said, winking. He smiled, and walked back out into the club, and I followed right behind him. 
I saw Liam at the bar ordering two drinks, and told Cheyenne, the bartender, to make me a martini. 
"Oh, hi Carly." he said, as if he didn't notice me. 
"Yeah, hi." I replied.
"Liam, let's sing!" squealed the girl who was with him when he walked into the club. She looked familiar. I must have gone to school with her. Great. 
"Sara, you remember Carly Thompson, right?" Liam asked, and I almost stopped breathing. Sara. Sara Anderson. Sara was the popular girl in my grade, one of the girls who made my life a living hell. 
Why would Liam do this to me? Because he hates me. Right.
