I Love to Hate You
Chapter 2
"Carly, can you come help me with this?" Madison called from the back room. I turned and walked away as fast as I could. Thank god she saved me. 
"What's up?" I asked, looking to see what was causing a problem. 
"Don't 'what's up' me. He remembers you. What do you do now?" she asked. 
"I honestly don't know. I hated him, you know? I can't pretend like I all of a sudden like him or something." I said, and she nodded. 
"Well, go talk to him. See where things go." she said, giving me a shove back out into the club. I walked through the now empty dance floor to where the group of five guys sat.
"Sorry, things are kind of hectic here, since it's opening night and everything." I said, even though I didn't feel the need to explain myself.
"Carly Thompson. I barely recognized you. You look so different." Liam said. 
"Is that why you're actually talking to me? Because if I looked the way I did back in high school, Liam Payne would never be caught dead talking to me." I said.
"Well luckily nobody's here to see me talking to you. Can we? Talk, I mean?" he asked, gesturing to the bar stools. 
"Actually, we're closing soon. So I'm going to have to ask you to leave." I said, my voice sharp. 
"No problem. We'll catch up later." he said, waving and walking away. Ugh. Why was he being nice to me? We hated each other, and he knew that.
I woke up the next morning extremely tired from last night. I showered and changed into a white tank top tucked into a black yellow and blue patterned skirt. I slid my feet into my black heels with a bow on them and put on some gold jewelry before curling my hair and walking out the door. I went down to the club to see how we made out last night. 
For opening night, we did extremely well. I was glad that we had such a good turnout, and people were calling and getting their names on the entry list hours vefore we even opened. 
After checking up on the club, I met Madison's friend James for lunch. Madison thought James was great, and she was pretty much desperate for me to date someone, so I agreed to meet James. But only as a friend. I walked into the restaurant and spotted him, and Madison was right.
James was wicked attractive. Like, he should get on that model status. 
"Hi!" I said, giving him a hug. James and I have met a few times before, but we weren't exactly best buds. He said hello to me and we sat down and ordered. Our meal was nice, and we had a lot in common. We talked for a while before the bell that rang whenever someone walked in caught my attention. 
"Crap. James, I'm going to ask you to do something, but it doesn't mean anything. I just don't wanna talk to that boy that just walked in." I said, looking towards the doorway. James followed my gaze and looked kind of suprised. 
"You don't wanna talk to Liam Payne? Why not? He's like, super famous." he said, confused. 
"It's a long story. Which I will tell you, if you agree to be my fake boyfriend right now." I said. 
James agreed, and I told him to hold my hand across the table. So he did, then he added a little bit of his own rules, sliding his foot up my leg. I'm sure I blushed, and Liam walked by seconds later. He didn't notice me at first, but once I laughed, he turned back and looked at me. 
"Carly? Hey!" he said, as if he were suprised to see me here. 
"Oh, hi." I replied. 
"What are you doing here?" he asked.
"What does it look like I'm doing. This is a restaurant, remember?" I asked, kind of harshly. 
"Right. Who's your friend?" he asked, nodding his head towards James. 
"Boyfriend, actually. I'm James." he said, introducing himself. Liam shook his hand, and gave James a staredown. Liam looked kind of angry, but why? Why would he be jealous of James and I? He doesn't even like me. He hates me. That's the way it's supposed to be. So why did he look jealous? And why did I care?
