One Thing
A One Direction Fan
Fiction
Prologue
A girl walks into the Starbucks on
the corner of 5th and 22nd street. The bells on the door chorus
together above the New York City street sounds. She looks around
and can't see her friends. After checking her phone, she
realizes she's early and goes up to order. Without even
looking at the menu, she orders a hot chocolate with extra
whipped cream on top, even though its summer and about a thousand
degrees outside. She hands the cashier a ten dollar bill and puts
the change in the tip jar. She picks up her drink and goes to sit
down. As soon as she takes a sip she closes her eyes, savoring
the goodness. When she opens them, she hears the bells ring again
and a girl with her fawn brown hair pulled back into a perfectly
slicked back bun rushes in. Her cheeks are flushed and she sees
the girl is wearing a leotard with tights under her shorts. She
has her water bottle in hand as the ribbons from her pointe shoes
trail behind her. Ballet girl sees her and runs to her smiling.
"Allie," the girl with hot chocolate squeals. "I
haven't seen you in, like, forever!". "Hey Autumn!
Sorry I'm late, Madame Lavinsky held us back a little,"
Allie, ballet girl, said, a little out of breath, "Have you
been painting?" Autumn nodded. "How'd you
know?". Allie reached out and tucked a strand of
Autumn's red hair, that was covered in green paint, behind
her ear. "Just a guess," smiled Allie as Duranka and
Emma bounded in. They waved to the two and went up to order. They
came back with their tall Starbucks cups. All four girls fall
into a hug and start talking full speed all at once. These four
girls are my best friends. I have known them for almost my whole
life. We all originally came from a small Connecticut town.
Throughout the years, we went our own routes but stood rooted
together. Without them, I would'nt be who I am today. Allie
was sent to private school by her parents. She took up ballet as
a after school activity and grew to love it. Her parents
constantly pressure her to do well, as do her VERY successful
older siblings. Autumn, with her unique appearence of flames for
hair, emeralds for eyes, and freckles scattered over her face
like sand on a beach, was always different. Her parents are both
striving artists ,so art is what she lives for. She paints,
draws, and will be going to school for fashion in college. Next,
Emma has to be the most caring girl I have ever met. She
volunteers for everything, from pet shelters to soup kitchens, to
painting the old laidies's nails at the retirement home on
Saturdays. She lives in her own shell, we all want her to come
out. She is the shyest girl I have EVER met. Then, theres
Duranka. Her long, flowing blond hair and ice blue eyes ensure
her for popularity. But shes nothing like your average popular.
Shes nice to everyone, which is a reason she was voted 8th grade
president. I wonder why she hangs out with us sometimes, she
could be part of any group, like ever. We love her. Lastly,
theres me. I'm nothing special, I'm just March. I'm a
writer, not officially though. I'm a complete nerd. I get
straight A's, and care more about books then boyfriends. My
parents are divorced, but I'm over it. We are all 17 and
going into our last year of high school. Summer Vacation just
started and we are set out to make this a summer to remember
before we get caught up in the stress of finding the perfect
college. We all left our small-town lives to meet together in New
York and enjoy our last "free" and
"stress-less" days. Little did we know that people most
definitely do not get what they wish for.
