The thing that inspires me most is empathizing with people’s flaws and seeing how they deal with them. That sort of connection you feel with someone when you realize that maybe even the negative things that they’ve said or done are because of insecurities or injuries they’ve endured.

No matter what you're thinking about
No matter what demons haunt you
No matter what you are planning
    No matter what happened today
    No matter who you are
    No matter your past
    No matter your life
    You are never truly alone.
    There will always be someone
    Someone extending a helping hand
    Someone who can relate
    Someone who cares.

To be honest with you, I don't have the words to make you feel better, but I do have the arms to give you a hug, ears to listen to whatever you want to talk about, and I have a heart; a heart that's aching to see you smile again.

Want to be a rebel? Make someone smile. Buy a coffee for the man sitting out in the cold with his spange jar. Help someone who has fallen up, physically or emotionally. Practice empathetic listening.

I’ve always treasured empathy as the particular privilege of the invisible, the observers who are shy precisely because they sense so much—because it is overwhelming to say even a single word when you’re sensitive to every last flicker of nuance in the room.

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, it's at the end of your arm, as you get older, remember you have another hand:
The first is to help yourself, the second is to help others.

I am a sponge for the emotions and energy of others. When spirits are high, my state of mind is calm and untroubled, like a wave rolling gently in to the shore, but surround me with anger or sadness, and like a ship in a storm, my mood sinks like a stone.

i am a house made of concrete and many do not bother to visit. but i feel like a window when he looks at me. i feel so transparent, so raw and clear. i cannot hide at all. and when he looks at me - truly looks at me - he looks past all of the dirt and shards of broken glass. he crawls through the window, cutting his hands, until i can feel him sitting within the house of my soul.

I used to hate that I was empathetic. I used to hate that I'd always be putting myself in someone else's shoes without even realising I was doing it. I used to hate that I cared about how my words and actions affected people. I used to wish I could be a little less empathetic. I wanted to be able to speak my mind and not care about anyone else's feelings...but now I realise how stupid that is. I finally appreciate that characteristic and am happy to have it. I'm surrounded by people who lack it and that made me want to mimic them and be more outspoken. But Now I know that being outspoken doesn't mean saying whatever and not caring about what comes next. But saying what matters, without the need to belittle someone else or rub someone the wrong way. Caring is so so soo important. These days it's looked as if it's something cool to not care about anything- when it's not. Because a kind person is cool. Being compassionate is cool. Being a considerate person is cool, and being a good human being is super cool.

It’s not fair. People claim to know you through the things you’ve done, and not by sitting down and listening to you speak for yourself.

I need to learn how to stop destroying myself, stop being hard on myself and be nice to myself. I need to keep telling myself that I need to keep wanting something, something nice, something warm…so I can make other people happy. I can understand other people’s pain because I can love even after all that is left of me is gone because I have that strength.

And the worst thing is, you can't tell.
You can't tell that the person beside
you may be heart broken. You can't
tell if they are hurting all over. You
can't tell if they're struggling to
smile. You can't if they just want to
break down and cry. And the sad
thing is; they wish you could tell.

Its come to my attention that the people
of this world have become so intolerant
of things that they don't understand,
BEFORE THEY EVEN TAKE A CHANCE TO
    TRY AND UNDERSTAND IT.
To say that Caitlyn Jenner is not a woman
because she once was a man is disgusting.
Yes, there are other woman who deserved the
Woman Of The Year award more
    than Caitlyn Jenner.
But that doesn't give you a right to
    say she's not a woman.
You do not know how a transgendered person
    feels inside themselves.
Just like a person without depression
doesn't know what it feels like to be depressed,
they don't know the inside feeling
    that is not expressed.
So for you to say she's not a woman and
    misgendering her is a blatant
    act of ignorance and refusal
to use empathy to try and
    understand something bigger
than what's inside your little box.
    Makes me so mad.
The same goes for the ignorance of being
scared of an entire race/religion/group of people
    because a few psychotic
extrimists who happen to be a part
    of said race/religion/group
    decided to act erraticly
    and cause harm to others.
You CANNOT BLAME AN ENTIRE GROUP
    OF INNOCENT PEOPLE
    FOR THE ACTIONS OF
    A FEW CRAZY ONES.
    IT DOES NOT WORK.
    IT ONLY CREATES PROBLEMS.
    LIKE PREDJUDICE.
    Where have people's hearts gone??
    Where is the empathy?
Why are we so quick to be
    enraged by stupid B U L L S H I T
that we don't stop to think
"Hey. Is this a stupid thing
    to get mad about?
Is my anger or fear logical?
    Am I being an utter A S S H O L E
    about something so senseless?"

Some people think only intellect counts: knowing how to solve problems, knowing how to get by, knowing how to identify an advantage and seize it. But the functions of intellect are insufficient without courage, love, friendship, compassion, and empathy.

sometimes we just need to get over the fact that not everyone is going to understand us and our points of view. most people can feel sympathy, but they can't always feel empathy because they haven't been in the same situation and we should accept that that's 100% okay. just because somebody can't understand or relate to your situation and your opinions, it doesn't make them stupid or ignorant and it doesn't make you more intelligent than them. people experience and understand different things. so don't be a dxck with a superiority complex, yeah?

It isn't judging someone when you assume things about them. This means instead of defining people by what they say but to see them as more than what may or may not come out of their mouths. It's normal empathy, really. It's imagining others complexly. Some people just like to think of other people as real humans with real back stories and real emotions and real dreams and desires and a real personality as real as their own. It's simply seeing someone as complex or special or worth knowing as you are. There's nothing wrong with that. It's human nature-- we all do it. Stop getting so offended over it. In the end, it's revealing more about the person doing the act of imagining complexly than the person at whom the thoughts are targeted, and really, does it hurt anyone in the end?
