I don't know about America but in the UK being 16 changes a lot of stuff like legally your allowed to do more, so i guess that appeals here.

Same in the Netherlands. At 16 you're allowed to buy alcohol (not the strong kind though like whiskey and such), buy cigarettes. Not that I do any of those. I'm a rebel like that. And legally you can do much on your own.
At 18 you're allowed to do everything (legal).

I'm 18 and:
-I don't drink though I can
-I can buy cigarettes but don't
-Couldn't move out 'cos broke and still in college (UK college that is)
-I can vote
-Still treated as a kid...
It isn't that great unless you're one to party and such :/ Wish I was still a kid, or even 16 again :3

I've been 18 for over 5 months and I still don't see the big deal.
- I can't drink
- I don't like smoking
- Being a broke college student forces me to stay home
- I have awhile till I can vote
- I have soooo much responsibility; 2 jobs, college full time, and bills
Yay :S

You can be charged as an adult, and can legally leave. I feel the pain though, aside from being age of consent where people stop treating you like your ten, you don't get much outta it.
