I agree with you 100%.
During the last semester of my Senior year, I sat at a lunch table with 4 of my friends until these other two came and asked if they could sit with us. So, of course we let them.
Then there was this girl sitting all by herself and my friend and I looked at each other and nodded. So we both got up and sat by her and asked her if she wanted to sit by us. She was reluctant at first, but we convinced her eventually and she came over and sat right by us. From that day on until the rest of the year, she sat there.
Another time, there was another girl sitting alone who I vaguely knew, and so I went over and convinced her too to sit with us. Our lunch table eventually became full because we let people sit there if they had no where to sit. We all may not have been friends, but we had great times anyway. My friend and I would sit and make everyone laugh at lunch, trying to include everyone and make everyone feel like our friends, which they were.
It may not have been offering best friendship, but it sucks to sit alone at lunch. Not only did it make them happy, but doing something like that and seeing them laugh along with you gives you an amazing feeling.
True story. <3

Hm...I'm often by myself in school, but that's because I just couldn't be bothered with the trivialities most people in my grade talk about.
