“You’re not sure?” I
asked. Everyone else had dropped their stuff down on the beach and
made their way to the ocean. I stayed back with Cody and wasted
time putting on sunscreen so I could have more time to talk to him
and get him to like Kelli.
“Like, I do really
like her, but I feel like I also kind of like someone else a little
bit,” he said. “What if I lose the other girl because
she sees me with Kelli?”
“Well then that
other girl missed out, not you! You’ll have Kel, and you
won’t need that other girl,” I said. “Tonight on
the board walk, I’ll distract the other guys and you stay
back with Kelli and just kiss her. One simple kiss. Tell her
she’s beautiful and that you really like her. She’ll
tell you she likes you back. Then you can ask her on a date and
take it from there!”
“Do you think if I
asked her to be my girlfriend, she’d think it was too fast
and say no?”
“She would
definitely say yes, and I’m one hundred percent positive
about that. Go for it,” I said. He smiled, gave me a hug and
thanked me. We made our way down to the ocean and joined the rest
of our friends.
“Brooke!”
Carter called me over.
“No no no! Dude, you
can’t,” Jace and Mattie spoke over each other. Graham
and Duke laughed.
“Brooke’s
chill, it’s totally fine,” Carter said. “I just
want to find out.”
“Find out
what?” I asked.
“Truth or
dare,” Carter said. The four other guys looked at him
surprised, not expecting that.
“Dare,” I
said.
“I dare you to kiss
me,” he half smiled. I laughed as Jace and Mattie said,
“Bro, no, not fair.”
“I mean, a dare is a
dare,” I said, walking over to him in the waist deep water. I
put my right arm around his neck, resting my left hand on his
chest. He gave his friends a quick thumbs up before placing in on
my lower back. He smiled and then kissed me and I was actually
really surprised by how good of a kisser he was. Not that I’d
say anything though, like ‘I didn’t expect you to be a
good kisser, what a pleasant surprise.’
“I was right,”
he pulled up. “Kelli was telling the truth.”
“The truth about
what?” I asked nervously, looking back at Kelli.
“That you’ll
flirt with everyone even when you don’t mean it,” she
said. “Not in a bad way, I was just saying.”
“It was a
dare,” I said.
“He could’ve
just said he wanted to make out with you and you’d say
yes,” Kelli rolled her eyes. “He didn’t have to
dare you.” What was she trying to say? That I’m a
sl.ut?
“Yup, you’re
right,” I said.

Note: so for the song quote, obviously Brooke's not gonna kill
Kelli, but she'll definitely destroy
something...
