For the love of
God, stop
whinging about how your parents don't let you do
stuff, how that guy doesn't like you back, the amount
of homework you have, the petty problems that
aren't going to matter in a year's
time. People died today - not just in
Boston, but in Venezuela, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia,
Pakistan, Yemen and in other places that haven't been
reported. There are problems in this world that
you will never know first hand, and you are
so, so lucky for that. There's a girl your
age somewhere in the world who has spent her life worrying
about whether or not she's going to get blown up or
shot simply walking down the street, who could be
killed for falling for the 'wrong' guy,
for disobeying her parents, for daring to want an
education.

i'm not saying i disagree with this, because i don't for the most part. i don't think people should whine about not getting to go to a party or the fact that they're single, or whatever the h//ell else. and i get that we are so much better off than the people living in third world countries are, but i mean. just because some people have it worse than others doesn't mean that their problems are less important or meaningless. i'm not trying to start a fight, even though you might blow up on me cos i guess that's how witty works these days, but i'm just saying.
"telling someone to be happy because people have it worse than them is like telling someone to be sad because people have it better than them."

Exactly! Are we supposed to degrade our problems just because someone is worse off than we are? This is my life and what I'm going through is happening to ME so if I want to complain I can! How is ignoring what I'm going through going to change the fact that someone else has it worst than me?

I agree with this so much, though, I have to say, not everywhere in those countries are like that (seeing as I'm living in Iraq, I should know). Just saying.
