My mom asked me that the other day, and was so interested about what type of music I listen too. I was just like, "I don't know where to start *___*" She'd be scared to see what I actually listen to though. I don't know.... It sucks because I feel like my own family and friends would judge me for the music I listen to. So I lie to keep from facing judgement. I just know that they would say stuff about how "they can't sing worth a crap" or "why do they curse so much" or go on about how they look "emo" or "gay" or this or that. I'm just tired of having to hide the music that I actually like listening to, just to keep them from shunning me. I listen to the music that I listen to because it has amazing lyrics that I can actually relate to. Music is supposed to be an outlet, a way to express myself, not something I should be ashamed of. I sound so pathetic... Yeahh.... Sorry for that rant....):

love, try telling them once, see how they react. you have the right to listen to your music and be proud of it and sing it loudly and dance to it if you want. if you lie to keep from facing judgement, you are letting yourself down. ill write it again, you are letting yourself down. what other people think is no concern of yours. tell the truth. trust yourself and trust your family and friends enough to believe they will love anything you hold passion in. i love you, and we have the same name

I think I might just do that. You're completely right. I shouldn't have to be hide it... It's just music anyways, right? It's not like I'm pregnant and cocaine dependant, living on the streets of some city making my living as a prostitute, with a "baby-daddy" that works in a meth lab and is wanted in 12 countries for murder...Things could be worse than just music. Thank you for helping me grow some balls XD You just made my night by the way! I am a huge fan & I love you sooo much! You have amazing quotes, and the fact that we have the same name....just makes me feel so freakin privilaged! haha But thank you, I really appreciate you taking the time to reply back!

It is SO worth it to tell your parents what kind of music you like. I'm into rock, horrorcore, and alternative, and my parents HATE that kind of music. They love fifties stuff and classical. The trick is to keep your head held high and don't just tell them, show them how wonderful the music you love it. Be patient because getting them to approve doesn't take a day, but in the end chances are you won't be judged. Even though it took me six months, I got my parents to kind of approve of my favorite horrorcore band and I even got to go to a concert :) I know you're strong enough to have that conversation too, because you do have the right to love what you love.
