Its been almost a year since

my aunt died.

My 5 year old cousin was going to fly in from her house in Utah with her dad to my house in New Jersey for Christmas break. Her mom was going to come two days later because she had work. When the plane landed in New Jersey, my uncle told my cousin to call her mom and say that her plane landed. The phone didn't pick up, so she left a message. "I was calling you mommy to say that our plane landed and I miss you already. I love you."
Back in Utah, my aunt was driving on the highway to work. Her phone started ringing, so she pulled over to answer it. It was her daughter. As she was just about to answer, another car came speeding down the highway lost control, hit my aunt in her car, and killed her on impact.
It was on Christmas Eve.
I still can't believe that it is a little less than a year since my aunt died,
but it still leaves me speechless that my 5 year old cousin is left without a mom the rest of her life.
