Pretend It's Love
~Chapter 10~
I haven't seen Zayn in two weeks. I quit my job at the diner, I got a new one at the local library. I didn't answer when he called the first week, scared he'd friend zone me again, in front of the whole twitter world. Soon.. He stopped calling. Veronica said one day when I was out, Zayn came over and asked where I was. Veronica lied and said she didn't know. The idea here is distance. The more distance you put between yourself and the things you love.. The more the feelings fade. Even the pain. The only thing is.. I'm scared that his feelings will fade, too.

"Lu? Someone's here for you," Veronica shouts from down stairs. It's not Zayn, or else she wouldn't of let him know I was here. I walk down the stairs, nearly walking right into someone. "Harry," I say, shocked. "Hello," He waves half heartedly. "Come up," I gesture up to my room. He follows behind me. "Look, I know you probably expect me to say something nice inorder for you to get Zayn back," He starts. I nod. "But I'm not here to say that." He shrugs. I try not to look too confused. "Then why are you here?" I ask. "We had a thing too, don't you remember?" He asks, a small smile on his lips. Thinking on it, I do remember. And I remember how it ended. "Look, I know you probably hate me for ending it how I did, but you can understand my reasons, yeah?" He lets me nod before continuing. "But either way, there's a formal.. gathering tonight and I want you to come with me.." He invites slowly. "As my date." He whispers. "Why?" I ask quietly, trying to believe that this isn't some prank they're trying to pull on me. "I wasn't lying when I said I felt something with you, Lucy," He gets really close to me, kissing my lips lightly. When he pulls back, a smile turns the corners of his lips up slightly.
"See, like magic." He whispers, his breath on my lips. "Magic?" I whisper, too mesmerized to understand. He nods, "I knew I still had something for you," He winks.
"I'll pick you up at nine, wear something nice, and make sure to look as beautiful as you always do," He smiles and waves, before closing the door.
As soon as I wake up from the trance Harry put me under, I get down to business. My cousin who'd always been more like a sister to me, gave me a dress one year for my birthday. Let's just say I wasn't really grown into it at the time. I rummage through my closet, before finally pulling our the clothing bag.
I unzip it, letting the cream colored silk fall to the floor. I slip my legs in first, sliding it up my body, before finally resting the straps on my shoulders. I turn to face the mirror, smiling at my reflection.
The soft fabric hugs my hips and waist.. it flatters my skin.. I pull my hair into a sock bun, making my neck look nice and long. I smile as I think to myself..
All eyes will be on me tonight.. Maybe even Zayns.

"Ready to go on in?" Harry asks, grabbing my hand. I nod. He gets out and opens my door for me. "Thank you, Mr. Styles," I giggle. "My pleasure, Miss Lucy," He tickles my cheek with his curls. We get inside and at that exact moment, a slow song starts to play. "Wow, it's my lucky day.." He whispers, winking at me. "Care to dance, love?" He sticks out his hand and I take it gently. He leads me to the dance floor and we start to dance. His hands feel warm through the fabric of my dress, my head fits perfect on his shoulder.
"Did I tell you how beautiful you look tonight?" He whispers. I look up at him and smile, "You don't look too bad yourself," Before I can even manage a flirtatious wink, I notice Zayn walk through the door.
With Perrie on his arm.
