If It's Love
Chapter 6
"Ben! Hi!" I said, greeting my brother as his taxi pulled up to the apartment building. A week had finally passed and Ben was in England for the next two weeks. I helped him bring his bags up to our flat. He hugged Olivia, then collapsed on the couch. 
"That was the longest flight ever!" he said as I handed him a water. We talked for a few minutes, and it was good to see my brother again. Ben and I always got along while we were growing up. He's two years older than me, so he's going to graduate college soon. But since it's summer, he's on break, which is why he decided to come visit me. Ben's really a great brother, and he's always there for me. He's very protective though, which can be good and bad. 
"So, you want to go to the diner? Or there's this coffee shop. Your choice." I told Ben, and he chose the coffee shop. We walked, since it was sunny out, and it was just around the corner. 
"So, how's England treatin' ya?" he asked, and I laughed. 
"It's crazy. But it's a lot of fun. I have a job at the local diner, and I made new friends." I said, and he raised his eyebrows. 
"Good for you. When can I meet them?" he asked. 
"We'll see how things go." I said, laughing. Apparently I didn't have control over when Ben met my friends because one of them was at the same coffee shop as us. And he started walking over to us. I tried to pretend I didn't see him, but it didn't work, because Olivia noticed him. 
"Hey Kate, isn't that Liam?" she asked, as he waved.
"Oh yeah, it is." I replied, making eye contact.
"Hey." he said as he reached our table.
"Hi. This is Ben, my brother. Ben, this is my friend Liam." I said, and they shook hands. 
"Nice to meet you." Ben said, and I couldn't tell if he approved of Liam or not. 
"So Kate, can I talk to you for a minute?" Liam asked. My heart started racing, because I didn't know what he wanted to talk about. 
"Sure." I said, getting out of my seat and walking to the other side of the shop where Liam's friends were. 
"What's up?" I asked, concerned. 
"What are you doing tonight? The guys and I are having a small get together. You can bring Erica and Olivia, and Ben if you'd like." he said. 
"I'm in. And I'll see if they wanna come, thanks for inviting us." I said.
"No problem. Like I said, just a few friends and us. Low key." he said, and I nodded. Hopefully tonight would be fun.
I finished braiding my hair, the curls cascading down to my mid back. I looked in the mirror and smiled at my outfit, a cute pink top with jean capris and matching pink toms. I grabbed my phone and walked to the living area. 
"You guys ready?" I asked as we walked out the door and headed to Liam's for the 'get together.' When we arrived at his house, there were already a few people there, including Louis and Zayn's girlfriends, Harry's buddy Tom and Niall's friend Jake. There were a few girls there too, who Liam told me were some childhood friends and college girls Niall and Harry picked up. We all sat in a circle on the floor just talking, and everybody seemed really chill. I could tell a few of the girls were checking out Ben. Typical. A few minutes later, the guys decided to play a game. 
"Okay, so truth or dare, or spin the bottle?" Harry asked. Classic party games. 
"Truth or dare, then spin the bottle." Louis decided for them. 
Truth or dare was pretty funny, with Niall having to wear Zayn's socks on his hands, Harry having to prank call his ex-girlfriend, and Erica having to down an entire beer in five seconds. Which she did. 
"Okay, Kate's turn." said one of the college girls. She asked me what I wanted, and I said dare, hoping it wouldn't be too bad. 
"I dare you to... call Trevor. And be flirty with him." she said. Unfortunately the girl who picked my dare also happened to be Trevor's sister. 
"Fine." I said, dialing his number. I put it on speaker, everybody's faces eager. 
"Trevor? It's Kate." I said, trying to sound sweet.
"Oh, hey. What's up?"
"Nothing. I just, I can't stop thinking about you." I said, and people started laughing. 
"Really?" he asked.
"Really. I can't stop thinking about your eyes, your smile, your body..." 
"Kate, we should get together soon." he said. Oh god. 
"Trevor, you're hot." I said. I looked at everybody's faces, and they were about to lose it. I can't believe I didn't laugh. Liam looked kinda angry though. Why?
"I have to go take a shower. But I'll be thinking of you Trev." I said, my voice flirtatious.
"Right back at you." he said, and I knew my dare was done. I hung up then started cracking up. 
"Great, now I can't see the guy ever again!" I said, laughing along with everybody else. 
"Okay, time for spin the bottle now." Zayn said, grabbing an emty beer bottle and spinning it on the ground. It landed on Perrie, so they kissed. Louis was next, and his landed on Eleanor. It would have been awkward if it didn't. Ben's spin landed on Olivia, so they quickly kissed each other on the lips. Awkward. Erica ended up kissing Niall, and one of the college girls kissed Tom. Eventually it was Liam's turn. He spun it, and I knew one of his childhood friends was wishing it landed on them. But it didn't. Instead, the tip of the bottle was facing me. It was pointing directly at me. My heart started to beat faster, and Liam moved closer to me. He put his hands around my waist and pulled me close to him. I let my arms hang around his neck, and our lips moved slowly towards each other. 
Suddenly I felt his lips on mine. I know it sounds cliche, but it felt like there were fireworks exploding. I pulled away, breathless. A small smile was on my face, and he half-smiled. 
"You're a good kisser." he said, winking at me. 
"No, I'm just good at this game."
