Hidden and Invisible
Chapter one:
Aaliyah's POV:

 "I do." Those fateful words my mother was forced to say. And now look at us. My step-dad is abusive and his two victims are my step-brother and step-sister, Adrian and Ava. I know what you are thinking; why not me? And the answer? I don't know. My mom is a float nurse, so she is out on call all night, every night. She doesn't know what goes on around here. She thinks Adrian is the "bad boy" of the school. She thinks he likes to pick fights with people to make him look "tough." Maybe if she came home once and a while, she would find out what really happens. And Ava? Well, if she ends up pregnant, I don't know how he is going to talk his way out of that one.
*Flashback*
"Hey Ava." I say as I walk into her room.
"Oh hey Aaliyah! What's up?" she asks.
"Noth-what's that?" I ask as my eyes flitter over to her nightstand.
"Nothing!" she says quickly, grabbing the little packages and shoving them into a drawer.
"Were those c-condoms?" I ask, whispering the last word.
"So what if they were?" she asks.
"You shouldn't let him take advantage of you like that Ava!" I tell her.
"Well, what else am I suppose to do?!" she asks.
"Stop him!" I yell.
"How?!" she yells back.
"I-I"
"Exactly." she says, getting up from her bed.
"You saw nothing." she says quietly, as she walks out of her bedroom and out the front door.
*End of flashback*
What has happened with the world? When did it become so cruel? How can a father sexually abuse his teenage daughter and beat his son? What happened to all those loving and caring families that you see in the movies? Do they even exist anymore? Does love even exist anymore? My biological father ran out on my mom when he found out she was pregnant. How cliche. And now she married a person who likes to beat people and sexually abuse girls?
Sounds like love to me!
That is one thing I will never do.
Love sounds so difficult, and impossible.
Almost like it isn't even real.
