Chapter 3

"Okay, so you're supposed to meet him tonight at the restaurant downtown. Want me to take you?" Louis asked, giving me the details on the blind date. I told him I didn't want to go at all, but he had somehow convinced me. 
"No, I'll take my car. That way if the date sucks I can bail fast." I said, not sure if I was joking or not. 
"Give the guy a chance, alright? To be honest with you, I lied when I said he was into you for awhile now. He just needs a girlfriend, and he needs motivation, so I told him I knew someone who was single and ready to mingle." Louis told me. 
"Great. Well I'm going to get ready, I'll be back." I said, walking upstairs to my large bedroom. I walked over to my wardrobe to find an outfit. It was rainy out, as usual, but the restaurant was fancy so I couldn't wear my normal jeans and a sweater. I grabbed my yellow and orange dress and slipped it over my head, sliding my feet into a pair of light yellow heels afterwards. I quickly braided part of my hair across the back of my head and let the rest of it fall in loose curls. 
I walked out of my bedroom ready for the date. I can't lie, I am kind of excited. 
"Have fun, but not too much. Don't stay out too late." Louis told me, acting like an overprotective older brother. Typical. I got into my car and drove to the restaurant. I realized I didn't know who to look for, but Louis texted me and told me the reservation was under his name. 
"Hi, I think the name's Tomlinson?" I said, not sure of myself. 
"Right this way." The waitress led me to a table in the back of the restaurant. I saw another person sitting at the table, who must have been my date. I couldn't see who exactly it was, but as I got closer I saw he had blonde hair. He put down his menu as I sat down and stared at me in half shock. 
"Haylie?" he asked. 
"Niall." I breather, not believing Louis would do this. How could he? 
"I didn't know you were my date tonight." he said, chuckling. 
"I think it was a mistake..." I said, trailing off. I excused myself from the table to call Louis. 
"What were you thinking? Seriously Lou, this isn't funny." I said, getting more frustrated as Louis burst out into laughter. 
"I'm not staying for this date. No way." I said, about to walk out of the restaurant. 
"Haylie, please. Niall would be upset if you left him after showing up. Plus that's rude." Louis warned me. 
"Yeah, well so is setting your sister up on a blind date with some guy that hates her!" I said, raising my voice. That earned me a few stares from people across the restaurant, Niall included. 
"Fine, I'll stay. But you are SO going to pay for this later." I threatened, walking back to the table. I sat down and scrolled through the messages on my phone, not really wanting to talk to Niall. 
"So how are you?" he asked, making small talk. 
"Fine." I replied, a little harsher than I intended. 
"How's school?" he asked. 
"Good." I responded, another one word answer. 
"You think I hate you?" he whispered, sounding hurt.
