Chapter 4
Scarlett eyed Jesse pressing his lips on Regina, one of his girlfriend's.
"He's disgusting." Scarlett declared, shielding her eyes from the PG-13 rated makeout scene.
I chuckled. "I've known that for a while."
We walked by Jesse and Regina having a makeout session in the school hallways, and made our way to the exit of the school.
Scarlett flicked her shiny, blonde hair over one shoulder.
"But, four thousand dollars is going to help you out, a lot." Scarlett beamed.
I began rubbing my hands together, since the early December weather was colder than the usual.
"I know, I mean ever since my dad died, my mother has been a train-wreck. Having four thousand dollars could save me a month or two from work. I'm exhausted working late night shifts at the diner." I admitted.
Scarlett was the only person I could ever trust about my family background.
She nodded sympathetically, and gave my pitiful eyes.
I shook my head, as the cool wind blew my brown hair back.
I hated being pitied.
"You know, Kendall, you don't have to work so hard. I could give you a couple hundred thousand, even a million if you need." Scarlett offered.
"No, I don't need your money." I said.
Scarlett's father was a lawyer, while her mother was a famous fashion designer.
Her family was so rich, they had to get a whole bank to themselves to store their money there.
I've always been envious of Scarlett, but I tried not to show it.
After all, she was my best friend.
"What about a loan? You could always pay me back in the future after college." Scarlett meakly smiled.
I smiled back, acknowleding Scarlett's innocence and sweetness.
"No, it's fine, Scar." I assured.
Scarlett sighed, as we walked through the doors of a coffee shop.
The warm heat pinched my cheeks, as the scent of fresh, coffee beans filled my nose.
"What do you want?" Scarlett asked, looking up at the menu.
I scanned my eyes through the menu, and we both agreed on ordering two hot chocolates with extra whipped cream.
Instead of sipping on the drink, and wrapped my hands around it, letting the heat from it radiate agaisnt my cold hands.
"Kendall?" a voice asked.
I turned around, and saw a familiar head of brown hair.
"Oh, hey Cole." I smiled, waving at him.
Scarlett looked back and forth at us, puzzeled.
I mouthed to her, Jesse's friend.
She closed her jaw, as she slightly nodded.
Cole came, and sat down in the seat across from Scarlett and I, and grinned.
"Kendall, what are you doing here?" he asked.
"Getting hot chocolate." I chuckled.
Cole playfully rolled his eyes. "Obviously. I mean, what are you doing here without Jesse?"
I was getting annoyed by talking about that arrogant jerk, Jesse, so much.
"I don't have to be with him all the time, now do I?" I asked, irritated.
Cole seemed amused by my reaction, because he laughed.
"You aren't like the other girls he hooks up with. You aren't as... whiny. Or desperate. And much prettier." he complimented.
I smirked. "I do try." I sarcastically said.
Cole smiled, and glanced over at Scarlett and I.
"A few friends and I are heading over to Adam's place tonight for a small party. You guys want to come?" Cole asked.
Scarlett nodded eagerly, but I was skeptical.
Cole must've noticed my expression, because he smiled.
"Don't worry, Jesse will be there."

i love your stories.yes if you can it would be nice to see the characters..i have already imagined them and i want to see them :p
