Chapter 31-

                “No.”
                “What did you say?”
                “No I will not! I’m all ready involved! Even if you stop talking to me, they will still try to get me to get to you. I want to help you.”
                I was shocked when he got up so fast and hugged me tightly. “Marnie, why are you crying?” he mumbled. I widened my eyes, God I didn’t even know I was crying. “It’s just sad how you have to deal with this all on your own.”
                “Idiot” he said holding me tighter against him. “Why do you stay near me?” he whispered. “Because...I don’t know why myself. Because you’re a great friend who actually grew onto me?”
                I didn’t know why I cared so much. Maybe because he’s grew onto me and became one of my best friends.
                “But what happen if one day I can’t protect you?” he whispered against my ear. “What if I’m the bad guy in this? You don’t know me” his grip tightened a bit. “I don’t believe you are the bad guy, you are the good guy, and you just want people to think you’re the bad guy so no one can get near you. So people you love won’t get hurt” I decided. He seemed taken aback by my words. “You can’t trust me” he said.
                “Why? Why don’t you let people help you? Why don’t you let me help you? You don’t have to deal with this by yourself you know! I thought I was you’re friend” I whispered. “You are that’s why I’m scared for you. I didn’t know you were going to get involve. If you get hurt I don’t know what I’m going to do.”
                “I know I’m not going to get hurt. I know you’re going to protect me.”
                He shifted and got off the bed. He looked at me with glassy eyes. “Dimitri?” I asked. He reached inside his drawer and pulled out a gun, and then he pointed directly where my heart was.
                “Do you trust me?”
                My heart started too pounded faster. What was he doing? I drew in a deep breath and stared at him. In a shaky voice I said, “Of course.”
                “You shouldn’t”
                Then he pulled the trigger.
