Another Place, Another Time
Chapter 8 Part 2
i sat down on the chair furtherst from the futon. As I sat there, I began to question everything. 'Was his situation that bad that he had to go and kidnap someone? Was it becuase of some huge debt he owed? But tha couldn't be it, since he flew us all the way from Colorado to Paris.' I tapped my head slightly to get the blood flowing, so I could think more clearly. 'Then what was his problem? Had he gone insane and feels slightly evil?' I shuddered at the thought of something worse happening to me. 'But all of this is an adventure, something to .....' "What are you doing?" I turned my head in the direction of his voice. 'I feel like a dog.' I mentally scolded myself for reducing to this state. 'What doe he expect me to do?' I waited expectantly for him as he stared at me, as if trying to decipher a rather difficult code. Finally he said, "Why so curious earlier? Don't you know that curiosity killed the cat?" I didn't answer, afraid that i might say the wrong thing especially with that change of tone of his. He sighed and turned away. "You know that I'm not actually going to hurt you right?" He placed my hands on my shoulders, causing me too tense up. I could smell the alcohol on his breath.
Nothing happened for a while. He stood there, leaving his hands exactly where they were while i simply sat there, observing the room for means of escape. The prolonged suspense was killing me. I tried to rearrange my body so that I could ease the numbness in my legs. Looking around, i noticed that the room was actually quite small. There was a futon up against the opposite wall, beside it was a nightstand. Next to it was the bathroom, and where I was, the center of the room, was a table, two chairs , and a mini fridge. Nothing seemed out of place, but the vibe it gave of was eerie.
"It doesn't have to be this way. The world is a scary place especially fior a girl like you. One with fears uncomprehensible, trust almost unattainable, likes so strange a man can only imagine why, a love that is so hard to find....," he said in a low tone that made my hear spped up, just a bit. It sounded like something only people in movies would hear. Who is this guy really?
Suddenly I was wrapped in his warm embrace. "Don't leave me, just not tonight." He sounded so sad, all I could do was stiffly respond, patting his arm awkwardly. 'It's okay.." He slowly lifted me up, placing me gently on the opened futon. Then he himself collasped onto the bed beside me, trapping me under his weight. "Don't go."
