chapter eleven ♥

I couldn’t believe it. All this time, he was trying to mess up the friendship between Jessica and I. He tricked me into thinking that Jessica was a bad friend – in a way, she was – but he was worse.

            My phone buzzed. I looked at the screen; there was a new message from Ethan.
            Brooke, what the hell did I do?
            I angrily deleted the message and dialed Jessica’s number, collapsing on my bed.
            “Jessica!” I cried, when she picked up.
            “Brooke? What happened?” she said, concern in her voice.
            “Come over. Please. I need you.”

            “So, what happened?” said Jessica, plopping herself down on my bed.
            I sighed, “Ethan was lying all this time wasn’t he?”
            Jessica had a pained expression on her face, “Look, Brooke… I know you like him, as a friend, and all… But… He… Yeah. I’m sorry. But yeah.”
            I felt like something jabbed my heart.
            “But why?” I whispered.
            “He was jealous. He thought he was being replaced or something.”
            I nodded. “Jessica, can I saw the text you sent him.”
            She froze, it kind of looked forced in a way.
            “You’ve been sleeping with Danny?” my voice cracked.
            Almost instantly I was in Jessica’s arms.
            “Brooke, please. I’m so sorry. I won’t ever talk to him again I’m so sorry please don’t be mad—“
            “No, Jess. It’s fine.” I said, wiping my tears, “As long as that isn’t the reason you became friends with me in ninth grade.”
            “No! Never. I love you, Brooke. You’re my best friend.”
            I checked her thoughts, just in case.
            I feel so bad. How could I have slept with my best friend’s boyfriend? I can’t lose her over this. I can’t.
            Hearing that made me feel better.
