One Last Breath-two;
I waved at Eric, as he came up to
hug me. Eric was the nerdy type. He was cute, though. We've
been going out for a few weeks. I checked out his friends, and they
were all cute. Only one of them stood out to me, though. The one
with the cleats. Everyone who knows me knows that I have a thing
for soccer. Not just a thing, but a passion. He was the
only boy that I knew that played soccer. It sounds shocking, I
know. But in this town, it's all about lacrosse and field
hockey.
Eric put his hands on my shoulders. I looked at him in the eyes,
since we were about the same height. His forehead was on mine. We
kissed for the first time, and I enjoyed it. I could tell by
the sparkle in Eric's contact lenses that he enjoyed it
too.
"Love you, Vic," Eric said in a whisper.
I turned my head, because the truth was, I didn't love him
back. I liked him. And there is a difference. In the
corner of my eye I saw him. The one with the cleats.
Patrick. He was talking to Mariah, so I decided to go over
there.
"Hiya," I said, trying to be cute.
"Hey," Mariah said.
"Hi," Patrick said, eyeing me.
"I'm Victoria, or Vici."
"I'm Patrick...or Pat."
"I'm Mariah....or Mariah."
We laughed, even though it wasn't really that funny.
"So, you play soccer?" I said, trying to keep the
conversation going.
"Yeah, not many people here do, I guess."
"She does," Mariah said pointing to me.
"I do," I smiled.
"Really? Maybe we can play sometimes?"
"Definately."
"Alright, good."
"Yeah, great."
He smiled, then waved, then walked away. This was going to be
fun.
The next morning, I woke up at around 8:00 A.M. I went on a two
mile jog to start my day. After I got home, I took a 20 minute
shower, and went to Mariah's. I figured we were close enough,
so I just walked in. She was on her couch watching her TV. I waved
once she looked at me.
"Hey."
"Hey Vic," she replied.
"I've got to tell you something."
I walked over to her and sat with her.
One Last Breath-two; I waved at Eric, as he came up to hug me.
