Emily's Pov:
There was a knock on the door, and it slowly started to open. I thought maybe it was Abi because she forgot her bag, but when the door fully opened I saw it was Fletcher. Fletcher was my moms friends son. He was my best friend. I met him when I was seven. My mom needed help painting the kitchen, she called Debbie and she brought Fletcher along. We clicked almost instantly.

I sat on the floor of my room playing with my baby dolls when there was a knock on the door. I got up and laid the baby in her crib, and walked out to the kitchen. My mom was standing on a stool. "Mommy, someone is at the door." She stepped off the stool, and kneeled in front of me. "It's Debbie, and her son. Please behave dear." She stood up, and set the paint brush on the table and opened the door. A tall pretty woman stepped into the house. "Hello Monica." Monica was my moms name. "Is this your son?" My mom knelt down in front of the boy who was standing beside Debbie. "Yes, this is Fletcher. He's nine." My mom put her hand on my back and pushed me forward a little. "This is Emily. She's seven." "Hi." I said stepping behind my mom. "Hello." Fletcher said smiling stepping towards me. My mom stepped to the side, and pushed me into Fletcher. He wrapped his arms around me, and I just stood there. As soon as he let me go, I ran to my room. Fletcher came into my room and sat on my bed. “Boys aren’t allowed in my room.” I told him. “Why not?” He asked picking up my baby doll and tossing her up and down. “HEY PUT HER DOWN!” I yelled. He put my baby back down, and jumped off the bed. “Sorry if you’re mad.” He grabbed my hand. I pulled it away. “What are you doing?” I sneered. “Well isn’t that how someone shows how they like you?” I looked at him, and stuck my tongue out at him and then smiled. As they were leaving I decided to give him my most favorite colored crayon. “This is my most favorite crayon.” I handed him the purple crayon, and he stuck it in his pocket. “I’ll keep it forever.” He smiled and then they left. He was there when my grandpa died, and when I was diagnosed with leukemia. We were best friends up until seventh grade, he had moved to New York.
“What are you doing here?” I asked Fletcher sitting up in the bed. He closed the door and walked over to my bed. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small envelope. I took the envelope and opened it, and inside was a purple crayon. I looked up at him. “You kept it?” He blushed. “Of course I kept it, you’re my best friend. Why wouldn’t I have kept it?” I smiled at him. “Awe. I’ve missed you so much.” He leaned down and hugged me. “I’ve missed you too.” He let go and I looked at him. “Still living in New York?” He smiled showing his amazingly white, straight teeth. “Nah, we moved here. So I’m going to school with you. I’ve been here since school started, I was the one who was leaving those anonymous notes in your locker.” I looked at him, and sat up straighter. “Well, how come I haven’t seen you around school?” He laughed. “Now that was the easy part. Since we’re in different grades, we don’t have classes together, and whenever I see you in the hallway, I get lost in the crowd of people so that you don’t see me.” He sat in the chair and took my hand. “Why though, why didn’t you just come up to me?” He let go of my hand and leaned back in the chair and flashed a smile to die for. “Well I didn’t want it to be that easy. On the final day of the third week you would have found out.” He chuckled. “I really have to go Em, but I love you and I’ll see you tomorrow.” He got up from the chair, kissed my cheek and walked out the door. Did he just say he loved me? “I love you to.” I whispered, then I slipped into sleep.
