    All A Mystery
    Chapter 5
Tears cascaded down my face and I pushed myself farther, running towards the park that was just before the ocean.
I had no clue where I was going to go. Nothing on my mind except getting away from Sam. He was scaring me and I couldn't pin point how that was true.
    "Grace!" Sam shouted.
I turned around to see Sam hot on my heels. One of his steps was about three of mine. My lungs felt like they were bleeding as I rushed to increase the distance between him and I.
As I approached the park, I stopped infront of the stairs, my head darting left and right deciding on which way to run. My body shook with coldness as my hair become practically soaked in rain and my shoes, drenched from the puddles I was running through.
"Grace stop!" Sam shrieked from behind me.
I dashed for the ramp and bolted down and around them to the sidewalk that lined the now dark brown sand. Just as I reached the bottom, Sam was jumping directly down the stairs, landing perfectly onto the cement.
    "Shoot" I mumbled, panicking.
My lungs tore through me as my body went numb, running towards the pier that was abandoned, not a person in sight.
I darted up the slippery steps, sliding, struggling to keep my balance and running towards the end.
"Dead end." I whispered to myself as I neared the railing. The only thing saving me from the crashing waves down before, with the cold water rushing towards land.
"Grace." Sam neared closing the distance between us.
My heart raced a million miles a minute as my back pressed against the wet wooded railing.
"Sam," I begged, tears falling, hidden by the pouring rain, "Please don't."
    "Grace. Stop." Sam instructed me.
    "Go away." I pleaded.
Instead, Sam took even more steps closer as my back pressed further into the wood that made a cracking sound. I closed my eyes pleading he wouldn't come any father, which didn't happen. Sam closed in the final distance, reaching towards me.
I pressed all my weight against the wood, hoping he'd realize that I wanted him away from me, that I was scared.
I climbed ontop of the railing and eased my way back as far as I could go, dropping my bag to the deck.
"Sam, please, don't." I begged again.
My hands slipped from the wet railing and my body was hurled backwards towards the freezing cold water below. I screamed, but that was drowned out by the water below. My body was tired and was fighting to stay afloat, beind smothered by waved crashing down ontop of me.
"Grace!" Sam shouted from above me.
I heard a loud splash inpail beside me, knowing it was him, as I pushed myself father, only failing as my body went under the roaring waved.
Arms were around me as I was brought to the surface, struggling against the coldness that overcame my entire body.
"Hold onto me." Sam ordered me.
I pushed him away as I struggled my way to the pier which was only a few feet high. I grabbed the ladder trying to pull myself up, only falling and plunging back into the raging water.
Sam made it to the top before me and reached down, grabbing my arms and pulling me up towards the deck.
I collasped ontop of him, shivering uncontrollably. I pulled myself off of him and onto the desk, curling up into a ball.
"Sam, I'm cold." I shook vigerously.
Sam stood up and carried my bridal style, without struggling. I clung to his chest, unable to do anything else, as he quickly brought us back to his car.
He placed me down on the bench as he popped the trunk to his car. Carrying out blankets, he wrapped two around me then proceeded to slide his shirt off and wrap another one around himself.
My body still shook, as I curled into a ball again on the bench, not moving and keeping my eyes closed.
"Grace?" Sam crouched infront of me.
    "Y-y--yeah?" I shook out quietly.
"Let me take you home?" He asked.
    I nodded.
With that, Sam scooped me up and laid me in the back of his car as he blasted the heat and sped towards the freeway, heading in the direction of my home.
My phone buzzed in my bag that Sam placed on the floor, but I ignored it, returning the call to most likely my dad.
"Grace?" Sam asked, looking in the review mirror.
    I didn't respond, I didn't budge, I didn't even make a sound.
My eyes felt heavy and we wanting to close, but I tried to fight against it.
"Grace. Its okay. I wont hurt you. Sleep." Sam tried to sooth me.
I let the darkness overcome me as I quickly drifted to sleep quietly in the warmth of his car.

    My Beautiful Secret
    Chapter 10
I wake up and try to slide out of the small bed. I moan in pain when my head leaves the pillow and my feet touch the cold tiled floor. I quickly crawl back into the bed. I jump slightly as a women dressed in blue scrubs shuts the door. Her black hair is pulled into a neat ponytail that clings to her sweaty neck.
"What is that?" I wince as a needle makes its way into my pale arm.
"Morphine." She adusts my pillows and quickly walks back out.
The room starts spinning as the drug circulates through my system. I feel a rush of relief once I notice that the pain is gone. I place my cold hand on the needle, trying to keep it still.
"Look at you." I hear a laugh coming from the door.
I turn my head slightly to see Luke standing in the door way. He smiles and closes the door with his foot.
I attempt to run towards him, but he quickly stops me.
"Does it still hurt?" He frowns down at me.
I look down and see all the stitches that wrap around my stomach. I move my hand towards the top of my head and frown at the bumpy feeling.
"I have Morphine." I gesture towards the needle that continues to pump the narcotic through my system.
He chuckles and rests his hand on my swollen stomach. I smile as the warmth of his hand soothes my freezing body.
"I can't wait until you're out of this stupid hospital." Luke plays with my cold fingers.
    "Me too." I whisper.
    -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
I jolt up and rest my palm on my racing heart. I look at the figure sitting in the chair across the hospital bed. I feel my sweat trickle down my face as the figure comes closer.
"Maybe you should lay off the Morphine." Monica chuckles as she sees me checking my pulse.
"How did you get in here? Visiting hours ended." I lay my hand protectively over the needle that still lay in my arm.
"That's not important. Do you remember anything from three nights ago?" She glares at me. "All I remember is that two guys beat me up and you didn't do anything to stop them."
"Not true. I did try to stop them." She protests.
"Not what I remember," I shake my head. "You were just scolding them."
"True, but you're laying here alive." She starts to walk out of the hospital room.
At the last second, she spins around on her heels and faces me. "Don't let anyone know that I was here."
    And with that, she's gone.

    All A Mystery
    Chapter 8
Dancing for a couple songs with Sam didn't seem all that bad, it was slightly fun, even though Sam still had a scary side towards him. His arms we wrapped around my waist and my hair was brushed behind my ear, as hot lips found my ear lobe. Sam placed a soft kiss against it before speaking.
"Im gonna go get a drink, want something?" He asked, stoping our movements.
"Im good." I replied shaking my head.
"I'll be right back, please, please don't leave." Sam replied, sending me a wink before heading to the opposite side of the room, to the location of the bar. Deciding on not wanting to look like an idiot dancing alone, I headed back for the booth, when a small hand grabbed mine.
    It was Em.
"Come dance with me!" She shouted smiling.
    "Okay." I replied laughing.
She locked her hand with mine as she dragged me to the dance floor again, our bodies moving fast to the music, laughing at eachother. We kept dancing for a few songs, as I noticed Sam was chatting with a friend at the bar, when two guys about 21 came up to us grabbing our hands, Conner and Eric who started dancing with us, twirling us around, all in good fun, Sam keeping a close eye on me.
Or so thats what I thought it was, good fun.
"Wanna get out of here?" Conners voice shouted into my ear.
"No, Im here with someone." I replied, moving away from his grip.
His hand roughly pulled me back tightly to him.
    "With who?" He spat.
I nodded towards Sam, who was still chatting away with a man.
"Samuel? Ha! Don't waste your time with that a-hole." Conner said with disgust.
    "Oh well." I shrugged.
"Come on baby, come have fun with Conner. You'll be wanting more of me after the nights over." He gripped my waist tightly, inflicting harsh pain upon me.
"You're hurting me." I grabbed at his hand, practically glued to my hips.
"Like this?" He teased, squeezing even tighter than before.
"Stop, please." I begged, feeling nails and fingers digging into my sides, knowing they were gonna bruise.
"Don't make me scream." I threatened against his grip.
"So you're a screamer. Im a big fan of those." He winked, causing me to want to barf.
"Get-" My voice was cut off.
"Don't even think about it." He threatened, "For that, you're coming with me." He smirked disturbingly.
Connor kept a hand around my mouth and the other digging into my side still, and rushed me towards the exit. My hands fought against his placed against my mouth, tugging it down quickly as my eyes fell to Sam, not realizing what was happening.
"Sam he-" I shouted, Conner, clamping down again tightly over my mouth and nose as I struggled even more to breathe and break free.
Sam's body turned toward my attempted scream, seeing me being hauled out of the room. Before I could see anything else, I was tossed over Conners shoulder and being carried outside and down the street to a white truck, assumingly his.
I heard the unlocking of his truck and the door opening, followed by my body being thrown down on the back seat, a body, squishing ontop of me.
"Get off of me!" I panted, catching my breath.
"Im going to enjoy this." Conner replied, "especially since Sam can't hear your helplessness."
Conners hands trailed down the outside of my shirt, and stopping at my waist, as I felt him pop the button to my jeans, and run a hand up my chest, with the other, brushing my hair back. I tried fighting against his hold until he placed his hands behind my back, allowing my arms to be pinned under both our weight. I panicked more, as I what Sam said flashed back to me, "I wont let anything happen to you, trust me," replayed in my head. I decied on doing the only thing I knew how to do.
"Sam!" I shrieked from inside the truck.
"Shut it." Conner ordered, tugging on my shirt, it inching down revealing my bra slightly, kissing down my neck a hand brushing through my bangs.
I gave up, my body going numb, just as the the truck door opened and Conner's weight being lifted from me. His nails dug into my cheek inflicting more pain. As I looked up, I saw Sam, standing there, grabbing my waist and pulling me from the disgusting truck.
Fastening my jeans up and replacing my shirt properly, Conner was laying on the ground, scurrying to get back up as Sam grabbed my hand.

    All A Mystery
    Chapter 3
"Gracelyn get up!" I heard being shouted from downstairs.
Moaning, I rolled onto my stomache and groaned loudly, not wanting to get up.
"Don't make me come up there! Its already noon!" My dad added.
"I'm up!" I hollered at him, causing Kayla to bark.
I scratched behind her ear, just as my dad called her to go outside to pee. I decided to join in on the motion and proceeded to use the washroom and quickly freshen up with a nice warm shower. When finished, I quickly blow dried and straightened my hair, tossing into a loose ponytail, followed by a pair of sweats and a t-shirt to my body, since I wasn't doing anything today.
"Dad what time do you work?" I shouted through a mouth full of tooth paste standing at the landing.
"4-12" My father's voice shouted from the kitchen.
I spat and rinsed the sink out before heading into my bedroom to plop down on my bed with my macbook and novel "Wuthering Heights". I scrolled through tumblr, liking a few posts and pictures and then ventured onto a few colleges for September enrollment, although I wasn't quite sure what I was going to major in.
I grabbed my novel nestling back onto my bed reading for about an hour, deep into the love story, when Kayla barked at the door bell ringing.
I heard hushed voices mingling downstairs, assuming the door was for my dad, until my name got called.
"Gracelyn!" My dad shouted, knowing I hated that name.
"What?!" I hollered back, bending my page back as my book marker.
"Comning!" I shouted, after not getting a response.
Making my way downstairs, Kayla decided to greet me and barked lightly. I shushed her as I turned the corner to see my dad standing with someone I never expected.
    Sam.
"Grace, You never told me about Sam." My dad slightly frowned.
My heart started beating out of my chest as I backed up against the wall.
"Must of slipped my mind," I whispered, my eyes going big.
"Sam here tells me you guys have a date set up, to go to the fair today."
"News to my ears." I informed them both, shooting daggers at Sam.
What the heck was he doing? Honestly, who does he think he is, waltzing into my house and saying we have a date, that I don't even know about?!
Sams brown eyes starred into my pools of blue, smiling at my father.
"Do you mind if I take her Sir?" Sam asked surprisingly polite.
"Call me Nathan, and of course, go get dressed Grace." My dad replied to us both.
I huffed before marching up the stairs tugging on some blue shorts and a lime green t-shirt. For shoes I slipped on splattered paint flip flops and grabbed my messenger bag on the back on my door before letting my hair down.
As I sluggishly walked down the stairs, Sam came out from nowhere and grabbed my wrist rather tight.
"Let go." I whispered, so only he could hear.
"Its raining out to, and slightly chilly, don't forget your sweater." My dad shouted, rounding the corner from the kitchen and tossing my black bench coat at me.
"I'll see you in the morning." I replied to my dad walking out the door.
Sam was taller, giving him longer legs, which beat me to his car, opening it and closing it once I was in.
I placed my bag on the floor as Sam climbed into the drivers seat, backing out of our driveway, before speeding off down the road.
"Mind slowing down?" I whispered to him.
He let out a husky laugh as he placed his hand ontop of mind that rested in my lap. My eyes darted to his hand as I squirmed mine out of his grasp then wacking his hand away from me.
    "Sam," I warned.
"Don't worry baby." He smiled turning the corner and flying onto the highway.
Instead of replacing his hand onto the wheel, he placed it on my knee slowly sliding it upwards, onto my thigh. My body froze as he moved it back and fourth, slightly getting higher each stroke.
"Don't touch me." I threatened him.
    "Relax." He smiled.
We drove a bit further, Sam trying to have small talk, with me ignoring him each time, not interested, wanting to just return home for the day.
About 10 minutes later, we arrived at the local fair, about 5 minutes from the beach. Sam turned the car off as I reached for the handle of the car and stepping out into the cold.
I tugged my coat on, wishing I wore jeans, as Sam did the same thing, before joining my side and walking into the enterance.
    This ought to be fun.

    My Beautiful Secret
    Chapter 11
"Does it still hurt?" Luke asks as he gently rubs my stomach.
I wince slightly at his warm touch. "A little."
The nurse bursts in and Luke quickly removes his hand.
"You have visitors." She smiles at me and quickly walks out.
My body tenses as the two men that caused me to be in this hospital shadow over me. I hold Luke's hand as the two men walk to the edge of the bed.
"Monica told us about your accident." The man with the deeper voice says.
    "W-what accident?" I choke.
Luke looks at me and frowns. "You don't remember?"
"I'm not quite sure what-" The more annoyed voice interrupts me.
"You got in a car accident."
    "No I didn't." I protest. I know what I saw that night.
"Monica was watching you speed away, Nicole. She saw." Luke says.
"No I wasn't! I was not in a car accident! Those two guys beat me!" I start shouting.
"Nicole, please-" I cut Luke off with my screams of protest.
    "Luke I know what happened!"
The nurse comes back into the room and asks the two men to leave the room. She puts another shot of Morphine into my system. I gasp as the drug rushes back into my blood stream.
The nurse quickly leaves Luke and I alone in the spinning room.
"I hate seeing you like this." Luke lightly kisses my nose and walks out, leaving me alone in the now dark room.
    -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
"Can you walk?" Luke presses his chest against my back and wraps his arms around my waist.
"I'm fine. I just want to lay in my own bed." I mumble as Luke leads me into his apartment.
"Your mom told me to take you here." He reaches into his jean pocket and slides the key into the lock.
"Since when do you speak to my mom?" I lean against the wall as Luke shuts the door with his foot.
"Since she called to tell me that you were in the hospital." He slides his hands in my back pockets of my jeans and rests his forehead against mine.
He presses his lips against mine and smiles when I kiss him back. His hands slide up my shirt and rest on my back. I wince when he forces me to him.
"Sorry. I forgot." He pulls away and crosses his arms, not sure of what to do now.
"I'm fine." I rest my hand on the back of his neck and force his lips to meet mine.

    My Beautiful Secret
    Chapter 12
I jolt out the bed when I hear the sound of muffled groans down the hall. I look over to the side and find Luke's spot of the bed empty. My eyes widen in panic as I struggle to open the wooden door. It finally bursts and slams into the wall as I rush down the hall.
"Luke!" I scream when I see a deep gash on his forehead.
A rather large man turns to me and smirks. Luke mouths something but I can't make it out.
The man punches Luke one last time before walking towards me. He grabs a fistful of my hair and chuckles.
"Who's this?" He asks Luke but doesn't take his gaze off of me.
When neither of us answer, he violently pulls my hair - making me scream in pain.
"That's Nicole. Leave her alone." Luke yells and attempts to get to his feet. He quickly falls back to the ground and groans in pain.
"Why are you here with him?" The man whispers in my ear.
I flinch as he strokes his thumb down my spine. He laughs at my reaction and slams me against a wall.
I start screaming and kicking - anything to get him away from me. He tsks and pulls my hair, with more force this time. He screams and falls to my feet. I look up and see Luke clutching the bloody knife.
"Come on." He grabs my hand and starts running towards outside.
Before we can make sense of what is going on, two men come from behind and grab both of our waists. One man carries me effortlessly while the other struggles with Luke. The man eventually gets tired so he starts dragging Luke on the bumpy street.
"It will be okay." Luke mouths.
Before I have a chance to reply, I'm thrown into the back of a familiar car. The sweet scent fills the car.
"No." I mutter to myself. I recognize the scent and the car.
My guess is correct when I see Monica chuckle at me.
"You never listen." She frowns as she tightens her grip on a baseball bat.

    All A Mystery
    Chapter 1
It's funny to think one minute you are living a normal life and then, almost out of the blue, it changes and things become different.
Whether thats good or bad, I don't quite know.
    Grace Mackenzie.
    That's me.
That 18 year old brown haired and blue eyed girl, that is as normal as can be. That girl who has a crazy best friend named Maggie who is all about fun and hanging out.
Maggie was all for parties and hooking up with guys but never making a fully long commitment. I on the other hand, was basically a virgin for everything.
Never did the dirty, never had a boyfriend, never had a real first kiss.
    Ever.
I sometimes wished I could be Maggie, just so I could experience what all that would be like, so I'd know, but yet, im glad that I am me and I show that to everyone.
    *buzz..buzz...buzz*
My phone that was buzzing annoyingly in my bag, pulled me from my thoughts. I dug through my black bag that was slung over my shoulder, searching for my buzzing blackberry, descovering it at the bottom of my bag.
"Party tonight, you are going. -Maggie xoxo
"I hate you, you know that?"
"Whatever, be ready by 10" - Maggie xoxo
I shoved my hands into the pockets of my shorts and fixing my sunglasses as I walked along the sidewalk heading home. As I neared my street, that was practically quiet and secluded, I noticed that my father wasn't home, must be still working, over time.
I sighed as I inserted my key into the door of my house, and walking in to be greeted my Kayla, my 6 week old puppy, my dad got me for finally finishing school.
Shes a white saymoyed puppy, who was the runt of the litter and always full of energy.
"Can you let me get through the door? Geesh!" I groaned, slidding her back so it would close.
I glanced at the clock hanging against the wall and noticed it was already 8pm.
I worked down at the local bookstore from 8am till 7pm and grab coffee afterwards.
I microwaved a frozen dinner consisting of spaghetti and carrying it up to my room to figure out what I was going to wear.
I finally decided on a pair of skinny jeans and a strapless top to suit the Florida weather. My hair was left down wavy to my mid back, bangs pinned back and I slipped my dork glasses on, to lazy for contacts with my cellphone into my back pocket.
As I took my last bite of food and grabbing my bag off my computer desk chair, I flicked my twinkly lights that were hung all the way around my room in a nice pink, blue and green on.
Before I had time to slip my grey shoes on, Maggie was honking the horn to her car, telling me to hurry up.
I dashed out the door and into her car, greeting her with a hug and smile. She laughed and cranked the music up and she hit the accelorator heading to Jeremy's house for the party.
"You excited!" She shouted over the loud music.
"Oh yeah, totally." I replied sarcastically, staring out the window.
    "You'll have fun!" She shrieked.
    I'm sure I would.
