To fear to lose
is to fear to
live,
to sleep but
not to dream.
A heartbreak
here, a tragedy
there,
and with tears your eyes may
teem.
Nothing remains
forever afire,
the love of
a younger sort.
To fear the loss
of one you
admire
will cut your welfare
short.
A sullen flame may
burn forever,
a small and
novel fact.
But in due time
you see the
light
and never
do look back.
You live, you lose, it
can't be fixed,
this normal
cycle of being.
So do not live in
constant fear
for loss we'll
all be seeing.
