The Murderer's Journal

Prologue

"The man cowered in the shabby, little corner of the small, dark room even though The Figure had undone his shackle for his death. He was begging with the towering figure above him. 'Please don't kill me! What have I done to get here? I promise if you let me go, I wont report this!' But his pleas fell on deaf ears, he was no longer of use to The Figure. Just a waste of space. As the figure raised a jagged dagger he had carved from the bone of his first victim, he spoke for the first time in a deep, rumbling voice that sent tremors throughout the man's body. 'And those who read the book, were never found quite where you left them... In fact they were never found at all.' The man's shrieks pierced the air as the figure brought the dagger down into the man's body again and again. The Figure wiped his blood caked dagger and shut the door to the dingy room, leaving the now dead man to rot in neglect."

Evelyn closed her eyes for a second, as if the story telling had made her exhausted. "Alright well that's enough scary stories for one night Timmy." She said as she strolled over and slid the book into the shelf.

"Goodnight ma." Timmy murmered, his eyes drooping. Evelyn started walking out. "Mum?"

She turned back, "Yes?"

"I love you."

"I love you too."
