I hate when I show someone a story I wrote and this happens:

Person: Wow! This is a lovely piece of fiction!
Me: Huh? Oh, thanks! I kind ofjust wrote wha-
Person: I mean, it has so much meaning to it! I can tell just how much effort you put in it to convey such a strong message in a discreet way.
Me: Message?
Me: Oh, it actually doesn't have any-
Person: I CAN FEEL THE DEEPNESS AND MEANINGFULLNESS OF THIS STORY THAT YOU OBVIOUSLY INTENDED TO PUT IN AND IS NOT JUST ME OVER LOOKING A SIMPLE STORY YOU WROTE JUST FOR THE SAKE OF IT HOW INCREDIBLE!

Yeah... I hate when people do this, but I also love to have people critique my work so that I can improve, so it's a bit unavoidable, I guess.
