I don't know, it was just an all around better community. Nobody trash talked, nobody fought too much, there were no pointless debates from what I remember. No phases. Just a community of good, nice, friendly people. Now it's just a pile of sh*t.

Well I can't really say anything other than what has been commented by others.
I can't completely blame one direction for it, but it was one of the few reasons why people started leaving.
Other reasons were that a lot of the good wittians were getting older and graduated and stuff. Some people got social lifes.
And then the whole Haylor thing happened and a bunch of pathetic girls who actually thought they would marry Harry Styles got p.ssed at Taylor and everyone went from loving her to hating her for a dumb a.ss reason.
Quotes became more unoriginal, at the time witty was also changing a lot which made it difficult for layout makers like Sandrasauras to make compatible layouts so those people started leaving too.
The age rules became clearer and people younger than 13 were no longer welcome. They got p.ssed and the people who noticed them being very blatant about their age got p.ssed at them so then that happened.

Everyone seems to be blaming opinions though, and I don't get that completely. There were opinions on witty before any of this nonsense even started.
So... Yeah.
To answer your question though, the old witty was like rainbows and butterflies. Less people fought, but there were still fights.
People were original and made a way bigger deal about originality. For example, if someone used a format that they didnt made then they had to always out "nmf" at the bottom. Of someone posted a quote from somewhere else then they had to put "nmq" at the bottom.
People made bigger deals about pretty formats and complex layouts too.
So... I guess that's it.

Yeah, it did happen quickly. I ended up leaving for a while myself. The people just really made it... Un-fun. When I came back there were different people, and a bunch of other different things. It's really not that bad, my only complaint would be that there aren't many people left. Also, people need to know when to shut it.

it was the 1D fangirling obsession phase. It was all 1D 1D 1D 1D and it got annoying, so the good Wittians left. Everyone steals quotes from everywhere, no one has original quotes these days. We keep seeing quote over and over again. Quotes used to get 800 faves to be on top quotes, and it reduced by A LOT once the 1D obsession took over. There were a bunch of witty fights for people who have opinions. No one respects opinions anymore, they're like, "This is my opinion you better agree or we're gonna have a fight." It really was mostly the One Direction quotes and people just got freaking . off about it. I mean, I like 1D, but I was completely done with seeing 1D quotes nonstop, like literally every single quote. The, so to speak, old witty, had lost it's true meaning. People were fighting, there were no original quotes anymore, and there were a lot of depression quotes going on. which Steve is now hiding from the Quotes feed. It really is sad once you look at the old witty, and look at this one where people barely get any faves anymore...

I'm guessing so, since most wittians were pretty annoyed. But there were also jocked quotes and a lot of annoying people going "fave this if, comment if" which is against the rules. But its Steve, you never know. He has quite the humor too....

I left witty for awhile just because I had a lot of other things to do.. back then quotes got 500+ faves. I have a quote that has close to 900. Now you're lucky if you get 50+ faves.

There are witty fights now and all you see is the same quotes over and over again. I had a different account and I left witty for a long time because of this. One Direction took over. Most of the nice and decent people left (There are still a few) half the wittians on this website are fake. Nobody takes the time to read lomger quotes anymore. All the depression quotes are being hidden by none other than Steve. Everyone on here has changed

There was this phase where One Direction quotes took over and nearly half of witty population got upset about the fact that Witty's nothing but One Direction now and most of them left.
As the comment below me says, Witty lost it's meaning and now it's just quotes who have already been seen over and over again, and no one's original anymore. c: That's also another reason why some people left and yeah, there used to be around 2,000 faves on quotes each day but now people don't really favorite anything anymore. There has been alot of conflicts and fights going on between Wittians.
But yeah, simply - Your opinion is not welcome here anymore.

Yeah. Sometimes people are indeed nasty, they shove their opinions in other peoples faces. I mean, it's okay to have an opinion and an opinion CAN'T be wrong, but if you really show it off and don't respect anyones elses opinions it's obvious you'll get hate. I personaly never go on opinion quotes commenting rude stuff and telling how much their opinion sucks or anything, neither do I argue, but I think that people mostly post quotes as such to get favorites/fame now. Opinion quotes just cause more drama and I don't think that's what Witty's for, it's more for inspirational, original quotes which brighten up your day but you barely see some of those nowadays. I don't mind opinions being posted but I really think that now people just post those to get some recognition or fame. A long time ago opinions were still respected as they are and people didn't go off hating that person just cause they think differently but it has changed now and people should really already know that by now. c: Everyone says they wanna change witty back to a better place and gain more favorites on quotes again but there's no way you're gonna achieve that along with so much drama and conflicts just cause people think differently and have different point of views.

I know how you feel, I've had a similiar situation. I simply love learning new languages each year, but I'm always afraid to tell people what I'm gonna be learning this year, cause they always either laugh and mention something like ''You're gonna learn THAT language?! What for?? You're stupid. Find something more useful. It's a dead language'' or they give me a weird stare.

I know. Why do you care what language do I learn? Is it gonna affect your life? My parents always said, the more languages you know, the better it is. I go to random trips each now and then, and knowing their languages is for the better. The people who tell me that I shouldn't learn it are really rude.

Most people are angry because quotes get a lot less faves now- therefore, fewer people are on Witty.
A few years ago, quotes got 4,000+ faves, and now they barely get 200.

A lot of Wittians left such as me, before there were so many more people on this website. The top quotes had way more likes, people got along more. And there weren't as many jocked quotes.
