"Sticks And Stones May Break My Bones But Words Will Never Hurt Me"

Yeah Right
If I'm hurt physically, my body will eventually heal itself and the pain from the injury will go away.
If someone attacks me and hurts me with mean words, I will always remember them. They will always be somewhere in my mind. They will always hurt.

Did you know it takes at least 28 positive comments to overcome just ONE negative one?

wow really? I didn't know that. I'm gonna try saying 28 positive things to someone who's insecure. It definitely seems like a lot, but it'll at least make that person feel a little better than they felt before.

So true. People really need to think before they speak, because sometimes their words can have a permanent effect on someone else.

I know! I'm glad someone understands, I just wanted to get the word out there. I still remember mean comments that were said to me 4 years ago. They don't go away.

I know what you mean. And unfortunately, sometimes people say mean things without even realizing that it can be considered bullying. People need to stop being so numb to their own words and think about how they'd feel if someone else said that kind of stuff to them.

Exactly. Some people are just careless with what they say. Sometimes they even think that it's cool to say hurtful words to others. I really hope that one day those bullies realize how hurtful one single word can be to someone. Words change people forever.

I couldn't agree more with all of that. The worst is when people just throw around statements like "kill yourself" or "you're worthless" and stuff like that. Sometimes people are already on the edge as it is and just one hurtful statement can push them over it. It really bothers me how some people can be so heartless.

I know it's honestly so sad how people are killing themselves because of bullying. There's absolutely no way of getting away from it either. In school, people hurt you with words and even with punches and kicks. Then, when you get home, people attack you on the internet, which feels even worse. When someone gets cyberbullied, it's not private either and it allows other people to contribute. The most people who commit suicide are young too. It's absolutely devastating. I can't stand it.

It is really sad. I guess I'm lucky because my school is one of the few schools that actually means it when they say that they have zero tolerance for bullying. But then there's some schools near mine which aren't nearly as strict about it as they should be. I feel so bad for anyone who's ever gotten bullied. It is devastating like you said. I can't stand it either.

It's so awesome that you understand. I wish my school was as strict as yours. At my high school, we really don't have a whole lotta bullying that goes on, but when it does, teachers don't really notice or don't do much to stop it. And even if teachers do get involved, who's to say that the kid won't bully again? Teachers don't scare kids anymore. It's hard to hide from bullying now. I hate seeing my friends cry if someone says something hurtful to them. It breaks my heart.

At my school, all of the staff pays a lot of attention to how students treat each other and they're very strict with discipline when it comes to bullying. They make it very clear that bullying is illegal and that they're not afraid to get the police involved when bullying takes place. That's honestly the type of thing that more schools need to say to their students to make sure that bullying stops. And I mean, it is true. Bullying is illegal, so it's well within a school's rights to get the police involved when there's a problem with it. It's too bad how most schools aren't that strict about it.

I wish my school was a little more strict about it. They should be too. I go to a nice school, they should be more aware of the bullying that goes on. If my school got everyone to stop bullying, it would definitely cause us to have a lot less drama. So many kids break the law every single day by bullying one another. Sometimes I feel like it's not even a real law because bullying still goes on every single day everywhere. My friends and I wanted to try to start something like a campaign to stop bullying at school but we never got to it. Hopefully this year we'll go through with it. I'm just sick of all the nonsense. I used to cry before school because I was so afraid of going. I don't want that to happen to anybody else but unfortunately it does.

I think that it would be awesome if you and your friends tried to start an anti-bullying campaign. I'm sure that a lot of people in your school would support it, especially the ones who know what it feels like to be bullied. School is a place to learn, not to be tormented. Some people just don't get how bad they're making it for others by bullying them, but it's very wrong of anyone to make anyone else dread going to school because of how they're gonna get treated. I'm sorry that you ever had to go through that.

It's alright, I'm over it now, and it only made me stronger. I'm able to stand up for myself now, which is why I'm not bullied anymore. I'm hoping you never went through anything like that either. It would be awful if you did. And I'm really hoping that we're able to do our campaign. It would be amazing.
Also, a lot of adults don't see why their kids don't want to go to school. They should know that it's because their kid is possibly afraid of getting harassed. And I'm sure that's the case with a lot of children or teenagers.

That's really good that you stand up for yourself now. I've never been bullied severely. I kinda got bullied a little when I was in the lower grades of elementary school, but it was never really that bad and it hasn't happened to me in a really long time. Even if anyone tried to bully me nowadays, I'd just stand up for myself and then tell my guidance counselor or principal about it when I get the chance. But I have a lot of sympathy for bullying victims because it's so wrong that they have to go through that. That would be an amazing campaign. Like I said, I'm sure you guys would get a ton of support with it. Yeah, it's also sad how some parents don't realize the severity of bullying either. Even some of them who really love and care about their kids don't know about it, because their kids don't tell them that it's happening, because they're afraid that the bullying will get worse if anyone tries to stop it. But if that happened in my school, kids would get in serious trouble for bullying. I feel really bad for the people who don't know how to stand up for themselves, and who take everything to heart and believe all of the hurtful things said to them that aren't true at all.

I know, bullying is also the reason why so many kids are insecure. And with every hurtful comment, they get even more insecure and take the comment even more personally. And I'm sorry you got bullied, even if it was just a little bit. No one should ever be bullied, even if it is just a little bit. And thanks for the support about our campaign. I want to let everyone know that they are very capable of standing up for themselves, and I want to be there for anyone who needs it. I just can't stand bullying anymore, it gets way too out of hand, and the only way some people escape the awful feeling is killing themselves or with self harm. It's so awful, what I want to do is help people out and let them know that somebody is there for them. Not everyone has a friend who can be there for them when they need to vent.

I agree completely. Even some people who don't get bullied are insecure, and it's even worse for people who are insecure because of bullying. When I know someone who is insecure, I just want to say so many positive things to them to at least try to make them think better of themselves, but it's hard for them to see the positives when they think that there are so many negatives to them. And when they get bullied, it's even worse. Thanks, but it never really bothered me that much. You're welcome about the campaign. I think that you and your friends should definitely go through with it and be there for people who need support. You're right that not everybody has someone to always vent to, and it's sad because everybody does deserve someone like that. That's why I always make it a point to tell people I care about that I'm always here for them if they need me. And that applies to you too. I'm here for you if you ever need someone to talk to about anything.

Aw, thank you so much. You too, if you ever want to talk, I'll listen and Ill be there for you. And I completely agree. Everyone does deserve someone to vent to. Usually what happens when people can't vent is they just bottle everything up, and then eventually it'll all become too much to keep inside. Everyone deserves at least one person to be able to talk to. If not more. Everyone deserves someone who cares about them. Yeah, when someone is insecure, I tell them so many positive things. And those things are true too. But that person never agrees with it because they feel that theres so many negative things about themselves that it just drowns out the positive things, but that isn't true at all. It breaks my heart to see people who are always down on themselves. I just wanna run up to each and every one of them and give them a huge hug and let them know that I'm there for them.

You're welcome, and thanks. Sometimes I bottle things up even when I can vent to someone, because I don't want to do that when they don't have an actual way to solve my problems and sometimes I just don't feel like talking. But even when I'm personally feeling down, I'm always there for anyone who needs me, because I've known what it feels like to have no one, and everyone deserves someone. It's really sad how many people in this world are actually insecure. It's also really hard to change what how they feel about their own self, because they focus too much on the negatives to see the positives. But sometimes, insecure people look at "negatives" that don't even actually exist. Like, some girls think they're fat when they're not even close to being fat. It breaks my heart too to know how negatively some people think of themselves. There's a girl from my school who I've really liked for a long time, but when she found that out, she didn't understand how any guy could think so positively about her because of her insecurities about some things that I don't even consider negative about her at all, and I kinda tried to help her be more confident in herself, but she pushed me away because she felt overwhelmed by the whole thing, and I've never really figured out how to get back into her life. It's really sad, because I know I could help her a lot if she'd just give me a real chance.

I'm sorry that happened. Honestly, she would be lucky to have you. You seem like the kind of person who will always be there for a person no matter what. You'll always try to make somebody feel loved. That's something that a lot of girls want. I hope she sees that someday. And I unfortunately have to go to bed now. But tomorrow, we can continue this conversation if you want. I'll be sure to chat you. Thanks for talking :) goodnight!

Thanks. I haven't given up hope that someday she'll realize how much I really want to help her in her life, and that she'll at least just give me a chance. I would always be there for her and make her feel like she means the world to me, because she does. Hopefully she'll realize that eventually. Anyways, good night and I've really enjoyed this conversation. :)
